About the role

To support the execution of major investment projects at our cocoa production site in Hamburg, we are looking for a motivated Senior Project Engineer (m/f/d) with a strong background in industrial infrastructure and civil works. This position is initially limited to a duration of 2 years.

 

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for managing individual CAPEX investment projects at the site, with a strong focus on structural expansions and infrastructure modernization.
  • Plan and execute technical and civil engineering projects, including site infrastructure, utility networks, and structural works.
  • Support the preparation of building permit applications (Bauanträge) in close collaboration with architects, structural engineers, and external engineering partners.
  • Coordinate with local authorities in Hamburg (such as BUKEA, HPA, Amt für Arbeitsschutz, and the fire department) regarding complex permitting and approval processes.
  • Provide construction supervision and site management (Bauleitung) during project execution, ensuring strict compliance with safety (EHS) and quality standards.
  • Prepare project proposals and secure alignments with internal stakeholders and the Steering Committee.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets while providing transparent, regular reporting to the Engineering Manager.
  • Manage and coordinate external suppliers, construction companies, and service providers.

 

Your profile 

  • Completed degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Industrial Engineering (with a construction focus), Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
  • Proven, multi-year professional experience in project planning and construction management (Civil Works / Structural Projects), ideally within an industrial setting, heavy industry, or food manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of building regulations and permitting processes, alongside strong experience in professional authority management in Germany.
  • Excellent organizational skills, assertiveness on the construction site, and high cost-consciousness (CAPEX management).
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and a confident demeanor when dealing with external contractors.
  • Proficiency in German and English (business fluent German is essential for managing local authorities and German construction contexts).
