About the role

 

Barry Callebaut’s Forever Chocolate strategy includes strong commitments towards generating a living income for cocoa farmers, protecting human rights and children’s rights, becoming forest positive, decarbonizing our carbon footprint to become a net-zero company and having 100% certified or verified ingredients in all our products, traceable to farm level.

 

We are currently looking for a Sustainability Evaluation Lead to manage important discussions at a global level on sustainability data collection processes and definitions and to  lead the generation of insights on sustainability. By translating complex datasets into actionable insights, the Sustainability Evaluation Lead will drive data-driven decision making and contribute directly to Barry Callebaut sustainability ambitions.



Key Responsibilities include

 

  • Build and drive learning initiatives to understand the effectiveness of our sustainability programs

  • Develop and implement advanced analytics and predictive modelling tooling

  • Enhance insights with statistical analysis and geospatial tools

  • Lead the design of new data collection methodologies

  • Lead qualitative data collection and analysis to enhance quantitative data

  • Align with stakeholders to define what sustainability data is required, how that data will be collected, what the definitions are, what the quality rules are, and how the data will be reported

  • Document processes, definitions, tools and data rules

  • Design data visualization dashboards for internal stakeholders

  • Participate in sustainability projects for customers, donors or countries, as an expert on the monitoring and evaluation deliverables

  • Collaborate with the Sustainability Learning & Knowledge Lead to ensure that deliverables are aligned with the learning strategy and priorities

  • Collaborate with the Sustainability Data Architect to ensure that the data is ready-to-use for analytics and feed back any improvement on data quality

  • Collaborate with and support the monitoring and evaluation teams in the cocoa origin countries so that they provide relevant reports on the effectiveness of sustainability processes    




About you

 

  • University level degree in data science, geospatial science, statistics or related field

  • 5  years of technical experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI) and GIS tools

  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies

  • Proficiency in statistical software for analysis and modelling with strong knowledge of SQL and/or Python 

  • Formal training in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, impact measurement or program evaluation is a strong asset

  • Experience with data management or data governance

  • Strong analytical, process, and project management skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills coming from a multinational and complex organizations

  • Fluency in English. French or other languages is an asset

  • Experience with working with/in developing countries and with sustainability work (human rights, agricultural development, climate) 

  • Ability to communicate with origin countries, across cultures

  • Excellent data storytelling skills to communicate insights to non-technical teams is a strong asset

  • Able to write professional reports and presentations

  • Knowledge of (smallholder) agriculture

  • Able to operate in ambiguous and multi-stakeholder environments

  • Self-organized,calm, patient and persistent

  • Passionate about the different domains of sustainability: human rights, carbon emissions, deforestation, livelihoods     

  • Driven to contribute to the sustainability cause, but pragmatic enough to understand the challenges

  • Open to occasional travel to cocoa growing countries
