The Sustainability Data Engineer supports the design, structure and optimization of the sustainability data environment at global level. By ensuring that the sustainability team has access to real-time and reliable data on their activities, the Sustainability Data Engineer will contribute directly to Barry Callebaut sustainability ambitions.     

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

Data Architecture and Pipeline Management:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the data pipeline and sustainability KPI reporting
  • Support the design and upkeep of the data model for sustainability
  • Develop the data pipeline that automatically connects, transforms and consolidates the data from collection to analytics
  • Provide training on the data pipeline to the relevant user groups

 

Data Strategy:

  • Contribute to the implementation of the sustainability data digitization roadmap
  • Support efforts to improve data quality within sustainability
  • Participate in projects to implement or change processes and/or tools
  • Assist in applying a data governance framework to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations

 

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Sustainability Data Architect to ensure optimal implementation of the data pipeline
  • Collaborate with and support the Monitoring and Evaluation teams in the cocoa origin countries so that they use the analytics platform effectively
  • Collaborate with the Digital department to ensure that the correct infrastructure is in place for sustainability needs

 

About You:

 

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience working as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or similar role, with focus on designing and building data pipelines and architectures
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure)
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python, Spark, SQL)
  • Familiarity with data modeling techniques, ETL principles and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (nice to have)
  • Fluency in English. Fluency in French or other languages is an asset
