About the Role
As the Global Traffic & Logistics Management you will be part of the worldwide operating Cocoa bean flows. In this role, you will build a strategic partnership with CSD, Trading Teams, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance and Quality to achieve client and the company’s objectives while fostering a unified approach. This includes directing all activities related to cocoa bean shipments from loading ports worldwide to destination ports worldwide. Furthermore, this role also ensures cost-optimization in the logistic chain pipeline, i.e. loadings in origin to the delivery to customers. A key component of the role is flexibility in a fast-changing and dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Logistic Strategy and Execution Purchase and Sales contracts
- Develop and implement global logistics strategies to support business objectives
- Manage end-to-end transportation operations, including inbound, outbound, and reverse logistics
- Optimize transportation (air, ocean, road, rail) for cost, speed, and reliability
- Actively supporting cash initiatives with banks (repo business / deferred payments etc.)
- Traffic Management
- Oversee traffic flow of goods across global distribution centers, warehouses, and customer locations
- Monitor and manage carrier performance, freight costs, and service levels
- Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely clearance and delivery
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and export/import controls
- Mitigate risks related to transportation delays, geopolitical issues, and supply chain disruptions
- Technology & Analytics
- Leverage logistics software (SAP, Polomas, Cargoo etc.) to track shipments, analyze performance, and drive improvements
- Use data analytics to identify trends, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance
- Storage & Warehouse Oversight
- Oversee the storage of cocoa beans across approximately 20 warehouses in Northern Europe
- Monitor storage lots to ensure quality, compliance, and inventory accuracy
- Handle special cases related to storage conditions, contamination, or urgent retrievals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on storage volumes, conditions, and warehouse performance
- Insurance & Risk Coverage
- Work with insurance providers and brokers to ensure adequate protection against loss, damage, or delays
- Handle claims processing and documentation in the event of transportation-related incidents
- Certification & Audit Excellence
- Act as the center of excellence for certification audits including Fairtrade, Organic, and Rainforest Alliance
- Coordinate and support audit processes; liaise with certifying bodies and internal teams to prepare for and respond to audit requirement
- Ensure documentation, traceability, and compliance with certification standards across logistics and storage operations
About You
- 8-10 years' work experience in International Trading Company or Forwarding/Logistics Company or in Supply Chain or in Order Processing
- 5 years relevant work experience in the cocoa business
- Completed Commercial Apprenticeship or degree in export handling or Bachelor degree of Business Administrator or Economics
- Fluent in English (word and writing), French & German (beneficial)
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, supply chain and customs procedures
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage complex projects across multiple regions and time zones
- Excellent knowledge of MS office, Outlook, Teams, PowerBI, ERP systems and web-based systems
