About the role

 

We are looking for a Buyer Oils and Fats to be responsible for all buying activities across the category. The function requires a continuous improvement mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities include

 

  • Be fully responsible for a smooth, reliable procurement of BC factories in Western Europe 

  • Decide independently on spend allocation up to or after alignment with Director above certain spend level

  • Full accountability for the portfolio

  • Lead and negotiate price fixations with customers

  • Negotiate cross-regional raw material tenders and make allocation suggestions to the Director 

  • Initiate new procurement initiates to ensure the profitability of the category

  • Develop sourcing strategies and drive respective implementation and execution

  • Build up network within the industry and develop and/or maintain relationships with suppliers

  • Engage strongly with other corporate functions to continuously improve the sourcing of ingredients in order to support in optimal way the business targets of the entire organization

  • Collaborate closely with the BC Market Analysis team

  • Take an active and vital role in cross functional project team work targeting sustainability, R&D, etc.

  • Act as contact point for other functions such as sales department, quality, supply chain, sustainability, etc.

 

About you

 

  • Degree in business, agronomics, economics or related field

  • Minimum 5 year of experience in a similar role in the oils & fats environment

  • Deep understanding of vegetable oils market and supplier landscape and strong understanding of  oils and fats markets is a must

  • Outstanding track record of purchase portfolio is a must Degree in business, agronomics, economics or related field, Degree in business, agronomics, economics or related field as well as demonstrated capability to perform well in dynamic, fast paced commodity markets

  • Knowledge of emulsifiers/lecithin a plus

  • Computer literate, including proficiency in MS Office

  • Proven track record of ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements

  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities

  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines

  • Willingness to take over accountability and ownership of the category

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, global organization environment

  • Independent, target oriented and accurately also under high pressure and in uncertain markets

  • Agile, flexible and able to adapt to constantly changing (market) conditions

  • Excellent command of the English language. French and German a strong plus

  • Must have a passion to negotiate and achieve best in class deals for the company

  • Commercially and financially aware

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy

  • Must be able to work in multicultural environment

  • Must be able to lead laterally to defend market views and position of portfolio
