About the Role
We are looking for a Production Planner to coordinate and optimize production activities across manufacturing and packaging departments. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that ensure customer and stock orders are delivered on time while maximizing operational efficiency and minimizing production costs.
Working within a medium-sized manufacturing environment, you will manage production planning for multiple production and packaging lines, using ERP systems to monitor capacity, simulate alternative planning scenarios, and support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain weekly and daily production schedules based on a rolling 4-week demand forecast.
- Assess production volume requirements against available capacity, taking into account maintenance activities, machine downtime, vacations, and employee absences.
- Translate the master production plan into detailed weekly production plans and communicate implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure efficient utilization of production and packaging line capacity while meeting customer delivery commitments and inventory targets.
- Monitor the availability of raw materials and packaging materials; initiate replenishment orders with approved suppliers when required and follow up on deliveries.
- Create, release, and manage production orders for manufacturing and packaging departments.
- Track production progress and proactively identify potential bottlenecks or delays.
- Propose and implement planning solutions to resolve production disruptions and assess their operational impact.
- Coordinate schedule changes with internal stakeholders, including Production, Logistics, and Sales teams.
- Maintain and update ERP master data related to production and logistics parameters.
- Record production results, perform variance analyses against production plans, and identify root causes of deviations.
- Manage and distribute packaging specifications and production-related documentation.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in production planning, manufacturing planning, supply chain planning, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and inventory management.
- Experience working with ERP systems and production planning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate alternative planning scenarios.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other planning/reporting tools.
