About the role

  • This position requires a detailed understanding of the development process and advanced knowledge of technologies to contribute to project objectives and outcomes in Cocoa. This role will be working under the supervision of the Head of Product Development China, with a dotted line to Regional Product Excellence Lead - Cocoa.
  • The Sr. Cocoa Solution Expert executes the Customer PD function within the regional scope for Cocoa. The individual acts as the face of the customer by advising customers on the application and choice of the right product suitable for their setup. The position also requires providing technical support and organizing training courses about the full cocoa product range and application for existing and new customers with help from the Technical Services team. The individual also gets guidance and support from the reporting line manager on complex activities and key issues in the execution of their duties.
  • The scope of the activities covers Greater China including TW and HK, or other APAC region customer support if required.
  • Customers: FM (Corporate Accounts / Non-Corporate Accounts) & Gourmet– Cocoa

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Drive the conversations or workshops with Customers to share the excellent technical know-how to differentiate BC / Bensdorp ranges against the competition's powder portfolio. Drive the R&D roadmap for cocoa China, capability to evaluate, and prioritize projects and coordination of resources.
  • Demonstrate New Products to Customers and Check Interest, e.g. Cocoa workshop, Customer Visit to Present New Product. Contact customer to ensure understanding and ask further details on request. Receive Request from Customer to Create a New or Modify an Existing Solution; Balance Time and Resource Effort vs. Benefits of the Request, e.g. Discuss Feasibility, Assess risks, and Ensure Compliance with Business Standards. Define Application Types to Conform Customers' Specs.
  • Provide troubleshooting solutions on customer applications. Prepare cocoa samples of different applications depending on customer needs i.e. Ice cream, cakes, cookies, biscuits, sauces, beverages, etc. Capable to match competition powders in different applications especially imported from Holland + Premium powders (Black, HFC, etc.) from Regional competitors.
  • Perform Onsite and Offsite Customer General Training with the support of the Application team. Provide Physical or Remotely Assistance to Industrial Trials at Customers for new products with the support of the Technical Service Team.
  • Project Management – regular follow-up, align & communication with Manager & team on various projects' status. To be the Cocoa Expert for the R&D and FM/GM sales Team in China.
  • Acts as the face to the customer by advising customers in application and choice of the right product range, suitable to the installation and physical environment of the customer’s needs.
  • Ensure maintain a good overview of customer projects, customer capabilities, product portfolio, future projects and launches.
  • Work closely with and advise Sales and Marketing linked to specific product or application needs suitable to the brand’s operational footprint and align on product presentations.
  • Assure development of internal and external clients’ relations and maintain communication.
  • Provide technical support to existing and new customers, and create new market opportunities.
  • Present findings such as customer needs and views internally to achieve shared goals.
  • Ensure that a long-term application service is maintained and reviewed with all customers. Take the lead in organizing/running training, assigning the right people and involving other R&D functions where necessary – for customers and potentially internal staff as well.
  • Analyze and review the results obtained in the production of the samples produced at the pilot or production scale.

 

About you

  • Education: Bachelor / Master's Degree in Food Science or similar
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in the food industry, cocoa industry preferred.
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Outstanding presentation skills
  • Experience in Sales or client interaction
  • Good knowledge of working tools (MS Office, Salesforce, SAP, …)
  • Fluent Business English (Local language where necessary, e.g. Mandarin, etc.)
