SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summary:

Responsible for coordination and control of technical project work for the STA facility covering all shifts for a 24/7 operation. Will work closely with the operations team to identify improvement opportunities and assign technical resources. This position includes oversight of general facilities and grounds as well as process equipment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, organize and control the technician workflow as well as support production priorities and improve efficiencies including continuous improvements and analysis.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and accuracy, including the sourcing of replacement parts for repairs, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance. 
  • Supervise flow of Maintenance Requests and technical projects
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
  • Works in Maximo software
  • Coordinate work schedule with various departments for equipment downtimes.
  • Supervise and coordinate outside contractors
  • Responsible for building maintenance and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, chilled water, boilers.
  • Source and requisition materials and parts as needed
  • Ability to adhere to GMPs and all other food safety requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
  • Specify system components or direct modification to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations. 
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems or needs.
  • Recommend the use of utility or energy services that minimize carbon footprints. 
  • Direct the installation, operation, maintenance, or repair of renewable energy equipment, such as heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) or water systems. 
  • Perform personnel functions, such as supervision of maintenance technicians, fabricators
  • Calculate energy losses for buildings, using equipment such as computers, combustion analyzers, or pressure gauges. 
  • Study industrial processes to maximize the efficiency of equipment applications, including equipment placement.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineer plus 6 years’ experience.
  • Preferred five years supervisor experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a maintenance CMMS system.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
  • Requires a high degree of precision and control in work where damage could be considerable
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing as well as proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated general computer skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and be flexible with scheduling.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and supervisory ability.
  • One to three years of specifically food related experience. Must have significant experience with HAACP, GMP and OSHA regulations

 

Additional Requirements:

Train and coach operators on new and existing production parameters.
