POSITION TITLE: Chocolate Machine Operator

REPORTING TO: Supervisor

LOCATION: St. Albans




Job Summary:


The Chocolate Machine Operator is responsible for all phases of transforming raw materials into finished product.

  • Requesting and transferring raw materials from storage silo to daily bin
  • Enter recipe data according to production schedule
  • Record raw material incoming number on production order sheet
  • Adjust pre-refiner/refiner and conch temperatures according to recipe and customer specifications
  • Add fat, flavors and emulsifiers to conch or horizontal tanks according to recipes
  • Pump product from conches to finished/vertical tanks according to production schedule
  • Conduct basic and preventative maintenance, report improvements as needed
  • Verify viscosity of finished product and adjust as needed
  • Sample finished product
  • Fill drums and pails with finished product
  • Cross train to perform all functions of Line Worker and Mixer Attendant
  • Maintain house-keeping standards of all areas in the department






  • High school diploma or GED


Work Experience:

  • Successful with following written and oral instructions, required
  • Good math skills, required
  • Basic computer knowledge, required

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to stand on concrete floor for long periods of time
  • Bend, squat, stretching, reaching, frequently
  • Ability to climb stairs, often
  • Must be able to lift minimum of 50lbs 
  • Use of computer usage; finger dexterity and hand movement for use of keyboard and mouse, repetitive motion 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock
  • Noise level can exceed .85 decibels
