Under the responsibility of the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability Region Americas, the incumbent oversees the Food Regulatory function of Barry Callebaut Canada and USA to ensure products are compliant to provincial or federal laws.  The incumbent applies or suggests development of local, regional or corporate policies to meet these government laws.  


Key responsibilities include: 


●    Monitor, follow up on existing regulations ;  
o    Food and Drugs Regulations Canada (FDR)  - Main
o    Food and Drugs Administration USA (FDA)  - Support
o    Organic USDA NOP, Canada COR (Government certifications)
o    Safe Food for Canadian Act (in conjunction with the FSMA/SFCA Compliance manager)
●    Liaise with internal / external legal counsel as appropriate for additional legal justifications
●    Review & approve labels – SAP or pre-printed labels for the markets of CA and US
●    Propose company position statements on current regulatory or scientific developments 
●    Support local sites to create, maintain procedures to achieve certifications requirements;
●    Develop, and provide training assistance to QA, R&D, Sales on applicable food legislations;
●    Lead and Assist Regions QA managers in the implementation of new rules and regulations;
●    Communicate and monitor the implementation of new regulatory policies and projects (Corporate or Regional)
●    Create official regulatory responses to customer requests through the customer Documentation Requests group (Salesforce CASE management) as needed
●    Participate in trade associations 
●    Lead Regulatory driven projects where applicable

 

About you:

 

●    Bachelor degree in a scientific field (Food Sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.);
●    Food law education (CA or US);  preferable but not mandatory
●    Minimum 5 to 7 year experience in a food regulatory position.
●    English mandatory / French as asset;   oral and written;
●    Very good communication skills; oral and written;
●    Travel requirements: occasionally.
●    Project management skills is an asset
