About the role

  • Barry Callebaut Digital (BC Digital) is on a mission to lead the digital revolution in the chocolate industry, and seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, to help us build a foundation for data-driven decision-making. Based in our Singapore-based AI Center of Excellence, your role will focus on developing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models and AI solutions that promote innovation across various projects.
  • As part of the BC Digital Chief Data and Analytics Officer (CDAO) organization, you will work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to prioritize and deliver impactful AI solutions that meet business objectives. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence transformative growth and promote a culture of data-driven insights at Barry Callebaut.

 

Key responsibilities include

  • AI/ML Model Selection & Algorithm Optimization
    • Define and deploy machine learning and deep learning models in conjunction with the various D& A teams as a part of the CDAO organization
    • Tune and optimize algorithms for performance and accuracy
    • Experiment with different model architectures and techniques to improve outcomes
  • Ecosystem Collaboration
    • Facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and customers.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify areas of our business to uplift through advanced AI use cases (e.g. GenAI, process automation)
    • Collaborate with stakeholders from our operative business functions to understand their business problems and identify innovative solutions to uplift our operative processes
  • Integration and Deployment
    • Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and engineers, to support the transition of prototypes into production and the subsequent scaling phase
    • Manage the deployment and monitoring of AI solutions in software environments.
    • Prepare and present reports on innovation activities, findings, and recommendations
    • Support business initiatives/projects around innovation, automation & AI
  • Research and Innovation
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AI practices and methodologies.
    • Support programs and workshops to encourage idea generation and drive employee engagement in innovation.

 

About you

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English
  • Certifications related to Azure Data & Analytics tools (e.g. Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, etc.) are highly desirable
  • Extensive experience as an AI/ML Engineer or in a comparable role, with a minimum of 5-6 years of progressive experience
  • Proficient in various AI and ML models and sound understanding of AI technologies and applications in various industries (ex Programming languages such as Python, R, or Java) & ML frameworks & libraries (ex TensorFlow, Keras, Pytorch)
  • Profound knowledge of AI/ML solutions on Azure is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of processes and technologies concerning the newest developments around Innovation, Automation & AI
  • Fair understanding of project management tools and methodologies incl Agile ways of working
  • Skills to create internal and external partnerships/networks across the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a structured way of working
  • Creative and strategic thinker, with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement
  • Experience in the chocolate or food industry is a plus, but not essential
  • Collaborates well across diverse and globally distributed teams, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across different levels and functions of the organization
  • Is a true team player, supporting their colleagues by sharing knowledge and experience and committing to the teams’ joint success
  • Is capable of effecting communication, conveying complex problems clearly and persuasively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Has an independent and self-driven personality, taking responsibility and owning tasks
  • Possesses good problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Can create internal and external partnerships/networks across the organization with technical and non-technical stakeholders
