About the role

As an ambassador of the company’s brands, this position will leverage their passion, creativity, and product expertise to raise brand awareness and brand equity of the entire product range. By leading a diverse range of activities, both physical (co-creation events, product demonstrations, training courses, lessons, etc.) and digital (social media, content creation, KOL engagement, etc.) the head chef manages the entire Academy and strongly supports the execution of the sales & marketing strategies of the company. The head chef is a creative pioneer and passionate chocolatier with strong leadership skills and commercial acumen.


Key responsibilities include

  • Sales & Marketing Support
    • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams and Head Chef to lead category proposals and product planning leveraging the company's products in customer proposals
    • Assist the Head Chef in the development of recipes and prototypes for proposed client products
    • Assist the sales team in the preparation of preliminary materials for client meetings, answering questions from clients during meetings, and presenting developed products
  • PR Activity - Digital Marketing
    • Promote the Chocolate Academy and the brand through social media (content creation, text editing, photo and video editing, translation of professional foreign language content for chefs, posting)
    • Manage the Academy's website (including newsletters)
  • PR Activity - Physical Marketing
    • Support holding various contests (consideration of operating rules, support for spreading advertisements, recruiting and encouraging participants, judging recipes, making recipe books from winning entries, setting up venues, etc.)
    • Implementation of on-site workshops, support for exhibitions and events (various arrangements, set-up, etc.), and demonstration implementation or support
  • Academy Class Activity
    • Organize technical training sessions on the application of our products at the Chocolate Academy or at external venues
    • Assist external chefs and head chefs
    • Conduct own courses and demonstrations
    • Arrange the invitation of external chefs and assistants
    • Prepare the course (measuring, materials/tools arrangement, etc.)
  • Inquiry HandlingRespond to technical inquiries from internal and external parties
  • Administrative WorkManage/register various data, handle various billing and payment administration, etc.
  • Internal stakeholders
    • Marketing Team:
      • Provide content (recipes, images, videos, etc.) and advice for creating marketing materials for external use
      • Provision of product planning ideas and development of prototypes for co-creation days with customers
      • Provision of ideas for product planning based on brand PR strategies, and PR support through demonstrations and presentations at PR events
      • Support for organizing various contests (review of operating rules, support for spreading advertisements, recruitment and encouragement of participants, recipe judging, publication of winning recipes in a recipe book, etc.)
    • Sales Team
      • Providing ideas for customer proposals, creating and arranging tasting samples (own products or applications) for customers, arranging to sample of own products, supporting development proposals for customers, proposing branded products
    • Global Academy ChefCommunication with chocolate academies and brand teams from around the world (e.g., administrative support for the World Chocolate Masters World Championship)
  • External stakeholders:
    • BARRY CALLEBAUT Brand  Official Ambassadors
      • Conducting external workshops, managing exhibitions and events (arranging and setting up venues, inviting and treating external chefs), conducting demonstrations, or providing support.
      • Support for the World Chocolate Masters World Championship (invitation, reception, interpretation/translation support, and various administrative procedures)
    • Marketing research CompanyDeveloping plans and making presentations based on the results of analysis of marketing research, visit surveys, trend surveys, etc.
    • Others, e.g. Distributors, PR companies; Development Consultant
      • Working with sales agents, distributors, and development consultants (sales support, provision of tools, recipe books, digital marketing tools, etc.)
      • Supporting the World Chocolate Masters World Championship (arranging products, equipment, etc., negotiating with sponsors)


About you

  • Confectionery school diploma – trained as a professional bakery pastry chef AND/OR chocolatier
  • 10 years of experience in production or development as a pastry chef or chocolatier in the field of bakery, pastry, food service, or FMCG
  • Knowledge of the characteristics and application methods of each company's product line of chocolate & compound ingredients (including decorations, fillings & pastes)
  • Experience as a product planner and developer of bakery, pastry, ice cream, drink, and gift confectionery products for domestic consumers at a confectionery manufacturer, confectionery ingredient manufacturer, etc. (about 3 years experience *5 years or more is a plus)
  • Experience in product presentations and demonstrations to internal and external parties
  • Business level English (must have)
  • Experience in digital marketing (content development, image/video editing, translation of foreign language content, collaboration with influencers, etc.) is a plus
  • Able to conduct analysis based on trends and research and apply the insights to product planning and development; able to lead product planning and development tasks and propose recipes and applications
  • Have a creative sensibility and be able to make proposals that are not bound by precedent; conduct classes and other activities on their own, and be able to demonstrate and explain using rules of thumb without manuals; always have high-quality standards in their work and be able to express the policy as our development chef
  • IT skills such as MS applications (Word, Excel, PPT) and Google Apps
  • Flexibility to respond flexibly to customer needs and changing circumstances; a positive attitude that always brings motivation to the teamAttitude to focus on results while implementing the PDCA cycle
  • Growth orientation in new business development and inexperienced areas; an attitude of building good relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and actively collaborating with them
