About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager in South Korea to grow our customer portfolio within the South Korean B2B markets. 


Key responsibilities include

  • You will be responsible for hunting new customers and new opportunities in adjacent categories such as biscuit, bakery, and ice cream to enable Barry Callebaut to grow its share of sales in chocolate, compound, and cocoa within the Korean market.  
  • You will have a proven track record in business development in the food industry within Korea, being able to demonstrate the commercial agility to navigate the complex organizational structures of the market.  Passionate about food and business you will be able to create enthusiasm for our products and services to help drive sales in product categories where we are currently under-represented.  
  • You will be responsible for managing our existing agents to ensure that they continue to grow their established customer base, giving them marketing, pricing and sales support as needed to increase their sales.  Working with the customer services team you will be responsible for all pricing, contract management and account management of our two agents currently in South Korea. You will be solely responsible for delivery of the sales budget for the South Korea FM business. 
  • We are looking for a team player who can manage to work with our existing agents and our Gourmet (B2C, QSR / Food Service) sales team to ensure we drive results for the benefit of Barry Callebaut appreciating the long-standing relationships that may exist in the market place.
  • Networking and the ability to manage external stakeholders is an absolute must for this role for you to succeed. It will be expected that you will regularly interact with your manager based in Singapore to update on market evolution, trends and competitor activity.  Barry Callebaut has recently opened an office in Seoul where you will be based, however it is expected that you will travel circa 75% of your time internally with some international travel required on an ad hoc basis. 


About you 

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, food science or marketing. 
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial B2B-environment.
  • Specific track record of business development & sales. 
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite
  • Experience in management of agents/distributors is preferred.
    English - Advanced and native Korean Speaker.
