ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Planner is a key role in ensuring maintenance efficiency within the BCOS (Barry Callebaut Operating System). This role focuses on defining the "how" and "what" of maintenance tasks, ensuring that the right resources (labor, parts, tools, and permits) are identified and prepared to execute maintenance activities effectively. The Planner will work closely with the Reliability Engineer and global teams to ensure that maintenance programs are aligned with best practices, technical strategies, and cost optimization goals.

This position involves a strong partnership with the Scheduler, who is responsible for optimizing resources and scheduling to ensure timely execution of planned maintenance activities while collaborating with other stakeholders to support production operations.

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES INCLUDE 

 

  • Identify and prepare maintenance work by defining the "how" (methods) and "what" (resources) needed for maintenance tasks, ensuring efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to develop and update job plans and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, ensuring alignment with global and local standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date master data in the CMMS, ensuring all maintenance activities are properly documented and tracked.
  • Ensure all necessary labor, parts, tools, permits, and other resources are ready and available for scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Work closely with the Scheduler to ensure timely execution with minimal disruption to production.
  • Use maintenance data and metrics to drive continuous improvement in planning processes and resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards during maintenance activities.
  • In smaller organizations, take on the role of storekeeper, overseeing the logistics of parts purchasing, storage, and kitting.

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • A technical certification or associate degree in a related field and at least 5 years experience as a maintenance technician
  • Strong understanding of TPM and maintenance planning.
  • Proficient in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), preferably IBM Maximo.
  • Experience with inventory management, parts logistics, and vendor coordination.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including production and maintenance teams.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Fluent in the local language; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading and managing large teams
  • Has lead maintenance and engineering departments
  • Technically astute and understands various types of equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Understands all aspects of product manufacturing and operational protocols (e.g. GMP, HACCP, etc.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills both upward and downward
  • Works well under pressure, enabling his/her team to thrive under all circumstances
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Comfortable with managing positive change
  • Self-starter and results-driven mindset
