About the Role
As an International Logistics Manager NA, you will lead the day‑to‑day import and export operations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico while supervising a team of Logistics and Customer Service Agents. You will oversee operational planning, shipment execution, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal service, efficiency, and cost performance.
In this dynamic role, you will act both as an operational expert and a people leader—partnering with global and regional functions, external service providers, and internal stakeholders to support a high‑performance logistics operation. You play a critical part in driving service excellence, compliance, and operational readiness across the entire North American region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance management for the import and export team, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Oversee and monitor all international shipments (air, ocean, ground); proactively resolve delays and exceptions to secure on‑time delivery.
- Manage capacity planning, carrier allocation, and daily shipment prioritization across all modes of transport.
- Develop, maintain, and implement SOPs for all import/export activities; ensure team training and compliance.
- Lead team management activities including daily workflow oversight, performance evaluations, and development planning.
- Ensure all import/export processes comply with U.S., Canadian, and Mexican customs, trade, and transportation regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Maintain accurate and audit‑ready documentation for all shipments.
- Build and manage strong relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics partners.
- Assess operational risks and implement mitigation plans; support internal stakeholders with contingency planning.
- Coordinate daily and monthly reporting to ensure fulfillment and customer escalations are handled promptly.
- Manage vacation planning and holiday coverage to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Support transition activities related to GBS implementation and the company’s evolving operating model.
About You
- Degree in Business Administration or a related field
- 5–7 years of experience in supply chain, freight forwarding, and/or import/export logistics
- 5+ years of experience as a Team Leader
- Conversational English level (B2+)
- Strong knowledge of international transportation regulations and best practices, with specific familiarity in ocean freight
- Proficiency in SAP, MS/Google Office Suite, and logistics tools (e.g., DHL platforms)
- Understanding of compliance requirements for CBP, FDA, and CBSA within a food manufacturing environment
- People‑centric leadership style with experience managing teams (including virtual teams)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
- Adaptable, resilient, and effective in fast‑paced and changing environments
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and a continuous improvement mindset.
