About the role:
The Cluster Project Execution Director coordinates project engineers and manages the technical team of internal and external people in the execution of multiple large scale and complex projects in the LATAM region and Americas Sweets. The role will manage a portfolio of projects in the cluster per year, each with a budget of more than 500K CHF. The internal key stakeholders to collaborate with are manufacturing cluster and plant managers, Global Engineering & Technical Innovation, Sourcing, Food Safety/ Quality and SHE functions.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

●  Responsible to set up the team and resources (internal and external) for the project in a multinational environment. Manages a dedicated team, together with people of the global engineering pool (including GBS locations) in coordination with the other cluster leads (exchange of resources) with a view on a balanced resource plan. Build a close project team of highly qualified experts and specialists and stimulate collaboration between teams to ensure that a well-functioning global engineering department is in place.

●  Take functional leadership over project execution and resourcing in the sites in LATAM and Americas' Sweets and Speciality.

●  Make sure all projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with international and Barry Callebaut standards, food/ people safety requirements and processes. Projects in scope contain a variety of competences: general technical project management, civil, process, mechanical, energy, automation and digital.

●  Responsible for Implementation of BC’s Engineering staged-gate process and Initiative Management Pillar in the cluster.

●  Design, communicate, and implement an operational/ executional plan for initiating complex and multiple projects; find solutions for operational problems, minimize delays. 

●  Support Masterplan designs and asset development of production sites within cluster.

●  Oversees, manages and co-manages all capex investments from start to finish. Responsible for all technical functions in the field of expertise to execute the project.

●  End responsible and escalation point for coordination with manufacturing operation people during preparation and implementation of the project. Hand over the projects to the end customer (BC manufacturing) for the technical scope and support the global process off excellence team for the process hand over.

●  Interacts with finance stakeholders to monitor and manage budget process, project cash out, finance reporting and tracking.

●  Responsible for the coordination of the execution team with COE to define project needs and make sure standards are implemented by active auditing. Driver of continuous improvement of standards based on lessons learned during execution.  

●  In collaboration with the COE teams, lead and drive cross functional alignment of Specs/ User Requirements and Design Reviews for Capex project in his/her cluster.  Collaborate with global food safety/ quality and global SHE - responsible to make sure the execution complies with the respective BC standards.

●  Support collaboration with technical sourcing for purchasing equipment and services to make sure that the right suppliers are executing the project.

●  Ensure that the team is well informed about the evolutions and developments related to Engineering and that the knowledge of the team is up to date with standards and regulations.

 

Scope / Additional Considerations:
●  LATAM Regional execution, hence all Barry Callebaut factories in the region: chocolate (liquid & molded), 5-10 Barry Callebaut sites in scope.
●  Americas Sweets & Specialty execution, hence including factories in LATAM, US and Canada, including Dunmore Masterplan and NAM strategic Sweets & Specialty network execution plan, another 1-3 sites in scope.
●  Americas Cocoa, hence factories in LATAM and NAM, including Dunmore Masterplan and NAM strategic Sweets & Speciality network execution plan, another 1-3 sites in scope.
●  Travel requirements: 30 - 50% depending on the needs and the open projects. High flexibility is expected. 
●  Others: relation building and contacts with suppliers and colleagues over different regions expect high availability / flexibility (time zones).
●  Home office or @ BC site.
●  Familiar with working in an international, matrix organization.

 

Qualifications:
●  Master degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience (Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical).
●  Solid experience in an engineering environment, food process or CP/ FMCG  industry.
●  Experience in managing different technical departments.

●  Back in process automation, utilities/ infrastructure and civil/ construction 
●  Team leadership and development experience.
●  Technical skills to understand and develop all core processes.
●  Accounting & budgeting skills (business case, feasibility studies).
●  Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite, SAP and engineering software.
●  Stakeholder management.
●  English - advanced level.
●  Portuguese and Spanish will be essential.
