About the role: 

The maintenance technician will repair and maintain all equipment in the factory, modify and install equipment as needed. The maintenance technician will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance for Barry Callebaut LLC operations.
  • Support production by ensuring the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment.
  • Assist production with melting, refining, and other duties as requested by the production supervisor or lead operators.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including PLCs, I/Os, VFDs, motors, and pneumatic components.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs involving hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and gear reducers.
  • Fabricate parts and perform welding on equipment when required.
  • Generate, complete, and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate documentation of repairs and parts used.
  • Coordinate and complete maintenance projects, occasionally working with external vendors.
  • Follow all GMP, HACCP, and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform general facility maintenance tasks such as plumbing, painting, training new employees when needed, and other duties as assigned.

About you: 

  • High school diploma or vocational diploma (or equivalent) with 2–4 years of manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Experience in a food production environment preferred.
  • Strong safety awareness and excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of GMP and food safety standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, kneeling, working at heights, and in high-temperature environments; basic computer and data entry skills required.
