The 2nd shift Maintenance Technician will repair and maintain all equipment in factory, modify and install equipment as needed. The maintenance technician will report to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and preventative maintenance of Barry Callebaut LLC operations

  • Support production by ensuring the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment

  • Support production with melting, refining, and other duties as requested by the production supervisor or lead operators.

  • Help in the training of new employees, both production and maintenance when required

  • Ensure the proper documentation of repairs, listing parts, record keeping and following the work flow process

  • Excellent electrical skills, i.e. (PLCs, deep concept of I/Os, VFDs, Pneumatics, motors, etc.)

  • Mechanical troubleshooting, i.e. hydraulic and pneumatic, pumps, gear reducers, etc.

  • Perform duties with or without close supervision

  • Coordinate and complete projects, on occasion with outside vendors

  • Fabricate parts and perform welding on equipment

  • Generate work orders, complete work orders, and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system

  • Communicate with supervisor for direction, to keep supervisor informed of problems and equipment that is not operating properly

  • Perform established PM and corrective activities and identify new opportunities for improvement

  • Follow all GMP, HACCP and Safety regulations and guide lines

  • General facility maintenance i.e. plumbing, painting

  • Good work ethic, flexible to cover assigned shift but willing to cover other shifts when needed or required

  • Other duties as assigned

 

About you:

  • High School or vocational school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two to four years’ manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Experience working in a food production environment. Preferred, but not required

  • Excellent attendance and safety record

  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment

  • Participate in the safety related training programs

  • Must promote a safe working environment and good GMP’s

  • Committed to providing a safe food product

  • Works within all regulatory requirements

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed

  • Must be able to stand, kneel, bend and reach over and under all equipment on a concrete floor for long periods of time

  • Must be able to work in high areas, freely move around the entire facility indoors and out as well as work in area of extreme heat

  • Basic date entry and computer experience
