Plant Quality Manager

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Plant Quality Manager to lead the Quality and Food Safety function at our manufacturing site. In this role, you will ensure compliance with Barry Callebaut’s Quality Management System (QMS), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, and all customer and regulatory requirements. You will foster a culture of “Safety, Food Safety First and Quality Always,” driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your mission will include managing audits, implementing robust quality programs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class performance. This is a key leadership role that influences plant operations and supports strategic initiatives to achieve zero defects and maximum customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Barry Callebaut policies, GFSI standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Develop and lead the plant’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs.
- Manage audits, inspections, and visits from customers, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
- Lead food safety initiatives, including HACCP implementation and vulnerability assessments.
- Collaborate with Operations, R&D, and Sales teams to support new product introductions and transfers.
- Maintain and improve sanitation standards and document management systems.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, driving continuous improvement plans.
- Manage QA team development, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Act as a key point of contact for customer complaints and ensure effective root cause analysis.
Profile Requirements
Education, Language, Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance.
- Formal HACCP training and knowledge of FSSC22000 or BRC standards.
- Proficiency in English and local language.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and SAP systems.
Experience
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Experience in audits, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or TPM principles.
