About the role

  • Within the overall business and corporate QA strategies, organize direct, coordinate, and control quality assurance activities in all APAC Cocoa sites, in order to support and contribute to the achievement of short and long-term Area business objectives.
  • Lead and support the execution of the BC Quality Mission and strategies in the region (with a focus on all Cocoa sites) by ensuring that systems, programs, and procedures are in place to
    • Comply with all applicable BC QA policies, procedures, and specifications through local documents and practices ensuring alignment with the Corporate QA direction.                                                                                                            
    • Comply with applicable local and international regulatory requirements                                                                                                                                                                                          
    • Comply with quality and food safety standards through compliant and regularly audited Management, Quality, and Production systems, including suppliers,  
    • Ensure product safety & overall quality for maintaining customers' trust and preferences                                                                                                                                                                                       
    • Ensure continuous improvement of the quality processes, strengthen quality culture on BC sites in the region shares and implement best practices in local operations, raise the benchmarks of performance to agreed levels, and creates OPLs for the region.
    • Monitor and proactively seek to achieve agreed KPI targets with visible and communicated action plans
  • People and know-how: Develop and maintain competencies and awareness for quality & food safety with teams and operators. Build people empowerment, and engagement practices and facilitate talent development of the team. Support the QA PDO implementation and ensure its maintenance and development.                                                                                                       
  • BC QA policies & specifications: Ensure full implementation of BC QA policies & specifications through local procedures and work instructions alignment in the region. Ensures that policies, procedures, etc from Cocoa leadership remain implemented.
  • Applicable local and international regulatory requirements: Ensure full implementation of applicable regulatory requirements on BC sites in the region regarding quality & food safety. Establish changes follow-up for systems updating when necessary
  • Quality & Food Safety Management System: Ensure site QA Managers maintain, monitor, and improve continuously the management system of their site according to the GFSI Standards. Ensures that the HACCP and CCP controls are a high priority in daily controls by the QA managers and that the kill step is updated.
  • Customers' requirements: Agree and Ensure customers' expectations are fully and properly implemented where required. Support local team for customer audits and visits. Maintain customer approvals for the concerned sites in the region.
  • Technical Support: Support other departments and site QA managers in the entire value chain and provide them appropriate guidance and assistance to ensure quality in their fields (FTQ improvement, blocked stocks reduction, complaints reduction, hygiene improvement, products nonconformity control, continuous improvement activities, etc). Ensure communication is transparent, quick, and clear on all relevant details on quality criteria to partners and stakeholders. Work to ensure good teamwork and communication with the local QA team and stakeholders (including APAC regional leadership team).
  • Quality & Food Safety auditing and verification: Ensure that the quality & food safety systems in place are effective and lead to expected results for BC sites in the region. Establish and lead a QMS audit program in the region for BC sites, and suppliers with the assistance of a local team of qualified auditors and participate in calibrating regional cross audits.
  • Vendor Quality Assurance: Implement Corporate policies regarding vendor quality assurance in the region. Establish and ensure execution of supplier audits program and follow up on corrective action plans.
  • Quality & Food Safety Projects: Lead overall Quality & Food Safety Projects in the region and represents the sub-region on other global projects.
  • Crisis & Incidents Management: Act as the key contact and co-ordinator for quality & food safety crisis and incidents management related to APAC Cocoa sites. Lead the follow-up of crisis/ major quality & food safety incidents in the region. Co-ordinates and maintains an active site Incident management team practiced in responding to a potential crisis.
  • Quality strategies: Support the development and implementation of BC quality strategies in APAC Cocoa sites and monitor its enforcement by tracking and acting on relevant KPIs and the changes which may be required.
  • Budgets and Costs control: Validate QA budgets of APAC Cocoa sites and ensure follow-up. Ensure cost control through saving initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Safety/Security/Hygiene
    • Work with relative departments to supervise the implementation and maintenance of all safety, health, and environmental procedures in accordance with company policies and standards.
    • Lead managing factory GMP and ensure corrective actions are timely and effectively taken.
  • Food Safety and Quality System Management – System Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all ISO, HACCP, BRC, and HALAL standards and customer/external audit requirements;
    • Prepare and successfully complete internal, second, and third-party audits;
    • Build up good relationships with the local authority and assure full compliance with national and international quality/food safety-related legislation;
    • Contact Corporate to do ring tests, report, and provide quality input on projects.
  • Food Safety and Quality System Management - Measurements and Testing
    • Oversees measures, records, and reports dimensional, functional and visual attributes in compliance with specified requirements
    • Make sure that time maintains optimum performance and internal
    • Calibration checks on quality-related equipment and schedules calibration of equipment requiring outside calibration
    • Maintain measurement database integrity
  • Food Safety and Quality System Management - Documentation
    • Documents and reports all supplier quality-related issues per document procedures
    • Controls and reports all nonconformance products per documented procedures
    • Ensures completion of all customer-required testing
    • Reports production quality through Certificate of Compliance or Analysis as specified by the customer
  • Food Safety and Quality System Management - Customer Relationship Management regarding Quality issues
    • Works with production and customer to determine optimized process settings to assure specified requirements are met (specifically during sampling and product qualification process)
    • Input on periodic customer visits where needed
    • lead involvement in the customer complaint process
    • Complete survey and questionnaire and answer technical questions from customers;
  • Food Safety and Quality System Management – Supplier Management
    • Audit suppliers and subcontractors per requirement;
    • Closely work with Purchasing/Sourcing on new suppliers development;
  • Productivity
    • Prepare, monitor, and control departmental expense budget;
    • Efficiently support production and other departments on quality-related affairs to enhance timely supplying or problem-solving.
    • QA overtime control.
  • People Management
    • Ensure all employees understand and follow company policies and procedures.
    • Provide training and supervision to all personnel performing quality testing within the quality lab and on the production floor
    • Manage the team ensuring staff is motivated, trained, and ready to achieve objectives, in a positive social climate.
    • Develop management talents necessary to achieve short and long-range objectives by effective direction, coaching, and training according to an overall manpower planning;
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Continuously develop best practices and optimize quality system /WI.
    • Play a key role in supporting all company projects where needed.

 

About you

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Biology/Chemistry/Food Technology/Biochemistry
  • 8 - 10 years of working experience in QC/QA functions of related food industries.
  • HACCP, GFSI, FSSC 22000, ISO22000, and knowledge in the cocoa and chocolate industries.
