About the role 

  • We are seeking for suitably qualified candidates for the position of Food Safety & QA Coordinator (Assistant QA Manager) to join Barry Callebaut Malaysia. The incumbent is responsible for driving all Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs ensuring compliance with government, regulatory and certification bodies. He/She will be primarily focused on the excellent implementation and maintenance of the FSSC 22000, HACCP and GMP certifications in addition to providing support to the operation team especially production and engineering on the verification and validation of the food safety and quality standards. The role will also be responsible for overarching plant QA systems and programmes, including plant documentation control.

  • The Food Safety & QA Coordinator (Assistant QA Manager) is expected to take active participation on the internal & external audits, root cause analysis, continuous improvement of cleaning, sanitation, basic maintenance, foreign bodies defense system, pest management and training evaluation of the team.

Key responsibilities include

1.Drive and support the Implementation of food safety, religious and sustainability standards

  •  Driving the implementation of HACCP, Barry Callebaut, GSFI, religious, sustainability and customer standards and procedures.

  •  Coordinate internal audit related to HACCP, food safety, sustainability, religious, customer and quality management system.

  •  Handle customer and third party audits.

  •   Follow up corrective actions and verify effectiveness of implemented measures.

  •  Supporting other functions to achieve compliance with the above mentioned Standards.

  •  Ensure training of local staff to achieve the food safety and quality systems objectives.

  •  Supporting and Replacing the Quality Manager in crisis management.

Ensure implementation of Pest Management & Foreign body prevention program.

  •  Follow up on local food regulations, escalate if required and integrate in local food safety standards to ensure compliance.

  •  Provide expert advice to other functions.

  •  Investigate the product complain issue related to FS (e.g FM complaint). Conduct the RCA with the factory cross functional teams.

2.Drive implementation and maintenance of quality systems

  •  Initiate and lead quality related improvement and problem solving teams using root cause problem solving tools such as 5 why and Ishikawa analysis.

  •  Ensure the implementation of documentation control.

  •  Carry out trend analysis and statistical data review to develop improvement plans.

  •  Contribute to cost and efficiency improvement activities, taking into account quality requirements.

3.Project Management

  •  Understand, review and provide feedback on the impact of projects (risk management analysis) on management systems (eg HACCP, FSSC 22000, PEM, Sustainability standards).

  •  Adapt and validate quality plans and systems to address changed or new ingredients, products, processes, production environment.

  •  Participate at meetings effectively, liaise with stakeholders and communicate and interact actively with all functions.

 

 

About you

Education

  •  Posses minimum Diploma or Bachelor degree of Microbiology / Biology / Chemical / Chemical Engineering / Food Technologist or similar.

  •  Fluent in English is required.

Experience (type)

  •  5 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety in food manufacturing industry

  •  Experience in auditing, Project Management, Knowledge of Food Safety management, HACCP management, GMPs (Hygiene practices, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control etc), GFSI certification schemes (BRC, FSSC 22000).

Knowledge or specific business understanding

  •    Understand GMP, safety, food safety and quality standards and procedures

  •   Good HACCP knowledge, EHS, food safety & quality system requirements of food products

  •   Good technical knowledge (microbiology and pathogen testing)

  •   Understand the production process flow

  •   Good analytical and systematical thinking

  •   Strong understanding on problem solving tools

  •   Leadership and delegation skill

  •   Good Communication skill
