The Barry Callebaut Group serves the entire food industry, from industrial food manufacturers to artisanal and professional users of chocolate, such as chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, hotels, restaurants, and caterers.



Barry Callebaut is seeking a highly motivated Site Manager with exceptional multi-tasking skills to control all facets of our American Almond facility, which is an integral part of or Specialty and Decorations division. The American Almond location specializes in the processing and manufacturing of tree nut products. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, daily and preventive maintenance, engineering, local purchasing, food quality and safety. In addition, the Site Manager will oversee all budget requirements for the site.  As the world’s largest Chocolate and Cocoa manufacturer, Barry Callebaut is committed to providing the very best customer and employee experience possible.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the highest product quality and safety oriented culture for the manufacturing workforce, with a focus on making product right the first time
  • Responsible for quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance of all products produced at the site
  • Control of costs to provide maximum shareholder value
  • Lead operational department safety initiatives
  • Fully responsible for quality, cost, yield, safety, and employee engagement and for the maintenance and monitoring of all relevant KPIs
  • Conduct thorough root cause investigations and corrective action reports when incidents occur
  • Ensures that procedures are being followed and are effective to produce products that satisfy the customer’s needs
  • Leads the re-engineering process to improve plant safety, quality and costs related to operations when needed
  • Continuously improves supervisor and manager skill level and process knowledge
  • Facilitate problem solving opportunities to remove roadblocks to achieve objectives
  • Works in coordination with the site QA and communicates with R&D to assure the product is created at the proper yield and conversion cost
  • Responsible for sanitation program and its effectiveness in the manufacturing areas
  • Handles vendor management
  • Responsible for the procedures, work instructions, work aides and training programs for the operations department
  • Measures the effectiveness of the tools and will coordinate changes to the plant system (ISO) required to improve plant performance
  • Ability to adhere to GMP practices and all other food safety requirements




Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or experience in related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Possess a working knowledge of recipe formulation, manufacturing process, product physical properties, statistical process control, sanitation and good manufacturing practices
  • A coaching/mentoring approach with emphasis on objective setting and measuring
  • 5 years of experience in food manufacturing
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
