About the role
The Shift Technician is responsible for supporting daily preventive maintenance activities at the Pasir Gudang factory, working closely with operators, process engineers, supervisors, and the maintenance team. The role ensures that equipment reliability, safety, and GMP requirements are consistently met to support uninterrupted production operations.
This position reports to the Maintenance Coordinator and plays a key role in executing preventive maintenance plans, identifying upcoming technical issues, and supporting continuous improvement in machine performance and reliability. The Shift Technician is expected to work independently during operations and emergencies while maintaining strong coordination with internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include
1. Safety, GMP & Compliance
Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations, GMP standards, and company policies.
Promote a “safety first” mindset at all times when working with machinery and equipment.
Support compliance with plant hygiene and cleanliness standards during maintenance activities.
2. Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
Execute, follow up and conduct the preventive maintenance plan with balanced focus on timing, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
Support daily preventive maintenance activities together with operators, process engineers, and supervisors.
Encourage team members to maintain machines in optimal operating condition.
3. Troubleshooting & Operational Support
Work independently with strong technical knowledge and emergency response awareness during breakdowns or urgent operational issues.
Understand the interrelation between equipment and production processes to support effective troubleshooting.
Escalate and report potential equipment issues in the short, mid, and long term to prevent unplanned downtime.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation Technicians to ensure alignment on tasks and priorities.
Support Maintenance Coordinator by providing updates, feedback, and technical insights on equipment condition and maintenance progress.
Collaborate with operators and supervisors to ensure effective execution of maintenance tasks.
5. Continuous Learning & Improvement
Demonstrate eagerness to learn and continuously improve technical skills and equipment knowledge.
Support initiatives to improve machine performance, preventive maintenance effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
About you
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical and/or electrical systems, with hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience in preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, safety practices and GMP compliance
- Background in apprenticeship / technical certification or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline
- Good understanding of preventive maintenance systems and industrial equipment operation
- Ability to work independently with strong sense of responsibility and emergency response awareness
- Safety-driven mindset with focus on completing tasks efficiently and accurately
- Willingness and eagerness to learn and continuously improve technical skills
- Good teamwork, communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operators, technicians and engineers
- Proficient in local language, with basic working knowledge of English
