About the role

  • The Environment Specialist, manages and coordinates all environment programs, processes and activities in order to maintain a compliant and safe work environment. This role drives excellence in environment across the site to achieve best safety and sustainability results. The Environment Specialist will develop the local strategy to deliver legal compliance and ensure execution of BC Standards. This role will assure the implementation of programs to drive reduction of safety incidents and environmental harmful impact. This role provides guidance and support on relevant Environmental & Sustainability matters.

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Responsible for monitoring and measurement of Environmental Performance variables - standard
  • Leads Environmental program/activities
  • Conduct / join SHE meetings, audits & Gemba/Inspection to ensure compliance with company & local requirements
  • Collaborate with management to develop & implement high quality standards of Environmental system
  • Collect & analysis data for Waste Management and related on Environmental
  • Advise & update to Management / stakeholder on environmental aspect / requirements both from company & local requirements
  • Able to solve environmental issues on site
  • Conduct Gap Analysis between company & local requirements
  • Advising on engineering and maintenance practices to drive improvement of safe systems of working.
  • Drive positive SHE cultures through but not limited to embedding the 1-2-5 principle, Gemba, Environment talks and training and demonstrated by consistent management behaviours.
  • Ensure compliance is regularly audited and performance assessed and use the results to drive further improvement.

 

About you

  • Master’s degree in science or engineering or environmental or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities: to add by the location.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Internal auditor or ISO auditor qualification a plus.
  • Experience of Lean/TPM tools and ways of working a plus.
  • Good working English required.
  • Excellence communication and cross function collaboration.
  • Fast pace, self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Exposure of minimum 3 to 5 years working experience in environmental field/project. Especially on Wastewater Treatment Plant (IETS), Bag Filtrations system, Cyclone (advantage), STP (Advantage)
  • Experience dealing with local authorities such are Department of Environment (DOE)
  • Experience in ISO 14001 Environment Management System – manage & organize the progress including liaising with CB (Certification Body)
  • Understand the requirements of relevant standard such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in a factory-based role: Safety, Health or Environment role, Operations,
  • Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement or Engineering background.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environment Management Systems and risk management.
  • Experience with influencing behavioural change in a team/department.
  • Experience in Waste Management, Wastewater (IETS), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), CIMS, Bag Filters Operations / Scrubber Operations
  • Experience in auditing for Environmental system / process / area
  • Competent Person registered with National Registry of Certified Environmental Professionals (NRCEP) for CePSWAM / CePEOEIA / CePIETSO / CePBFO / CePSO / CePSTPO (advantage)
  • Experience in ESG & Sustainability (advantages)
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to translate data into action and follow through.
  • Excel in coaching, training and influencing skills.
  • Resilient and capable of taking difficult decisions.
  • Transversal leader and excellent stakeholder manager
