Summary

 

The R&D Technical Services Manager manages the Technical Services function within scope under the guidance of the R&D Technical Services Head. Leads a team of R&D Technical Services Specialists/R&D Technicians in-line with the overall R&D roadmap and business strategy. Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of laboratory and pilot plant operating procedures. Assists Product Experts and Customer R&D in the development of new formulations, management of existing recipes and management of customer projects – from theoretical recipe over lab prototypes to industrial product for both internal and external clients. The R&D Technical Services Manager develops and supervises R&D Technical Services Specialists and/or R&D Technicians; provides guidance and support on more complex activities and key issues.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Give Application Training to the R&D Community and the Customer 
  • Assess Existing Technology & Equipment and Maintain Knowledge of State of the Art Technological Possibilities for All Kinds of Customer Applications 
  • Make Pilot Samples on a Small and Large Scale, e.g.Make Exhibition Samples, Make Tasting Samples 
  • Ensure Proper Packaging of Sample for Transport and Manage Shipment, e.g. Sample Request in LN database,  Input Sample Sendings into Sales Force,  Fill in Forms for Transportation 
  • Log Trials and Results in System (SFDC or other) 
  • Perform Application Tests in Application Lab with or without Customer, e.g. Trials on New Chocolate, Compounds and Fillings 
  • Request Lab Tests to Investigate the Product Characteristics with QA 
  • Provide Technical Advice to Customer on Application during Industrial Trials and to Smooth Transition to Industrial Trials (Troubleshooting) 
  • Visit Customer Sites and Perform Technical Problem Solving together with Customer 
  • Develop employees by creating individual learning plans 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives re processes, technologies, and organization 
  • Mentoring and coaching employees to ensure team effectiveness 
  • Promote information and knowledge sharing with others
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor / Master Degree Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or similar 
  • 5+ years of experience in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Quality Assurance or related fields Experience in a product development, strong application knowledge 
  • Experience in Project Management & Leadership 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and database management 
  • Fluent Business English
