About the role:
Standardized, secured, and monitored Operational Technology (OT) provides the backbone for a safe, reliable, and trusted production and storage process. It decreases the risk for a security breach and as such avoids financial loss and reputational damage. Furthermore, it is the core of any digital industrial application and therefore a necessity for growth in digitalization. The mission of an OT Systems Engineer is to drive the change program that will bring the aspired security levels to Barry Callebaut and contribute to realizing the Digitalization agenda.
Scope:
- Member of the global Engineering & Technical Innovation team and reporting to the Director Center of Expertise Digital. Part of a global team of OT and digital engineers.
- Direct responsibility for operational technology programs in 15-20 BC production sites. Involved in all 62 BC production sites, a total of over 10,000 digital assets, with ages up to 35 years, and a multitude of dedicated software applications. Failure of each one of these assets impacts production and potentially shuts down an entire factory. OT security is identified as one of the principal business risks for BC.
- Opportunity to drive an implementation program at the core of the CSD organization.
- Travel requirements: Prepared to travel approx. 30% of the time.
Key responsibilities:
- Defining and implementing site-specific OT improvement plans at Barry Callebaut production plants, by the global roadmap for OT security and standardization. The goal is to achieve compliance to global OT standards. This implies changes in people, processes, and technology.
- Supporting BC production sites during troubleshooting and incident response in case of an OT (security) incident (= level of escalation).
- Evaluating level of compliance to global OT standards of BC production sites, and defining gap analysis and remediation plans.
- Supporting global and local E&A engineering teams in implementing OT standards in growth and productivity projects.
- As a team of OT Systems Engineers and global OT Experts, improving global OT standards, implementing local site feedback and market evolutions.
- Increasing awareness, educating, and advocating for OT Security at global and local levels.
- Participating in expert communities with OT professionals working at local and global levels.
- Direct internal stakeholders are plant managers, site OT champions, Engineering E&A leads and project engineers, and global and local IT teams.
About you:
- You have a master's degree in engineering.
- Language skills: Excellent knowledge of English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
- You have at least 8 years of experience of working in an industrial automation (OT) environment.
- Experience with the design and configuration of the Siemens and/or Rockwell automation and network portfolio is required.
- Knowledge of international standards for industrial cyber security (ISO27001, NIST, IEC62443) is an advantage.
- You have experience working in a multinational business context.
- You have experience in managing complex projects.
- You are a strong communicator, able to interact with various stakeholders, often with different business objectives and operating at different levels in the organization (global and local).

- You have strong organizational skills, setting up, and managing multiple projects in parallel.
