About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Sanitation Manager to oversee and manage sanitation practices across our facilities worldwide. The Global Sanitation Manager will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with sanitation standards, promoting a culture of hygiene and cleanliness, and implementing best practices to safeguard product quality and safety. The Global Sanitation Manager will ensure Sanitation specific instructions and practices are developed and documented, and all requirements under Sanitation standards are followed. The Global Sanitation Manager will manage the entire sanitation and pest control programs to ensure specifications and standards are correct and current, under the direction of the Global Food Safety & Sanitation Manager.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Global Sanitation Manager to oversee and manage sanitation practices across our global facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with sanitation standards, promoting a culture of hygiene and cleanliness, and implementing best practices to protect product quality and safety. The Global Sanitation Manager will develop and document sanitation-specific instructions and practices, ensuring that all requirements under sanitation standards are adhered to. Reporting to the Global Food Safety & Sanitation Manager, the Global Sanitation Manager will also manage the entire sanitation and pest control programs to ensure that specifications and standards are accurate and up-to-date.

The Global Sanitation Manager will conduct regular verification audits to ensure that sanitation programs are effective and support continuous improvement in sanitation practices. This role will also involve collaborating with external vendors to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of sanitation measures (e.g., chemicals, pest control, contracted services). Additionally, the Global Sanitation Manager will lead validation processes, including risk assessments, data collection, troubleshooting, and coordination among stakeholders. Working closely with engineering teams, they will also support hygienic design reviews and foster relationships with customers, regulatory inspectors, and the internal sanitation talent pipeline.

 
Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Sanitation Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive sanitation standards and procedures in alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.
  • Facility Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to evaluate cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with sanitation protocols. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address identified issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver sanitation training programs for employees at all levels, emphasizing proper sanitation practices, personal hygiene, and food safety protocols. Ensure all employees are adequately trained and certified in sanitation procedures.
  • Supplier Management: Work with procurement and quality assurance teams to evaluate and approve sanitation-related suppliers, such as cleaning chemicals, equipment, and services. Maintain strong relationships with reputable suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality sanitation products and services.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation processes, optimize resource utilization, and minimize waste. Use data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date on regulatory requirements and industry trends related to sanitation and food safety. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP) across all facilities.

 
About you:

  • 10+ years of experience in sanitation management at a GFSI-certified food manufacturer.
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation principles, practices, and regulations, with experience in designing and implementing sanitation programs and protocols.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience leading and developing a diverse team of sanitation professionals deployed locally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience interacting with customers, auditors, and regulatory agencies is a must.
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to analyze data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Food safety certifications such as HACCP or PCQI, along with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, GMP).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Experience conducting internal and external food safety audits for facilities and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with clean equipment swabs, monitoring programs, and sanitation-related processes, including Food Safety Management, Hygienic Design, GMPs (sanitation, environmental monitoring, etc.), Pest Management, Allergen Control Programs, and GFSI certification schemes (e.g., BRC, FSSC 22000).
