About the role
The Sustainability Monitoring Expert will facilitate important discussions at a global level on sustainability data, including definitions, rules, data collection and reporting processes. By defining the exact goals and dimensions in which Barry Callebaut will execute its sustainability strategy, the monitoring expert will contribute directly to the Forever Chocolate ambitions: zero child labor, farmers out of poverty, being carbon and deforestation positive.
Key responsibilities include
- Align with stakeholders to define what sustainability data is required, how that data will be collected, what the definitions are, what the rules are, and how the data will be reported.
- Lead projects to improve data quality
- Lead projects to implement or change new data elements
- Participate in sustainability projects for customers, donors or countries, as an expert on the monitoring and evaluation deliverables.
- Build and analyze reports that help to evaluate and understand the sustainability activities and their impact
- Deliver reports to show our sustainability activities and their impact to customers and donors
- Document data definitions, rules and processes
- Participate in audits where customers or 3rd party bodies verify and challenge the sustainability reporting
- Collaborate with and support the monitoring and evaluation teams in the cocoa origin countries so that they provide the relevant data in the most accurate and efficient way.
- Contribute to the monitoring & evaluation strategy that defines how/when/which data will be collected, processed and reported going forward
About you
- You obtained a Master degree and gained a first experience in the following areas: Experience with working with/in developing countries, experience with sustainability work, experience with data management or data governance and/or experience in multinational and complex organizations
- Fluency in English is a must, fluency in additional languages like French, Portuguese or Spanish is an asset
- As a professional you are able to perform data analysis with spreadsheets and reporting software
- You are willing to travel occasionally to cocoa origin countries - Regular presence in the Zurich office (if not based in Zurich) is required.
- You have strong analytical and project management skills
- You are able to write professional reports and presentations
