About the role

The Specialties, Decorations & Beverages business is a growth market for Barry Callebaut. To support its performance you shape the Triple Zero (‘0 accidents, 0 defects, 0 delays’) strategy and drive the execution across all 10 manufacturing sites in EMEA. You specifically focus on improving safety, product quality, delivery and material waste. With your vast experience in continuous improvement methodologies, broad business acumen and your great people networking & development skills, you raise the competency level of the local Continuous Improvement Managers  & Specialists as well as the line management, from operator level to the plant management team, in embedding a true ‘Triple Zero’ culture and management system in each site.   

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Reduce safety risks across the sites (eg. slips, trips & falls) across all sites in scope.
  • Reduce product quality risks (eg. foreign bodies) across all sites in scope
  • Improve delivery performance (eg. production lead times) across all sites in scope
  • Reduce material waste and cost (eg. production line waste, scrap, rework) across all sites in scope
  • Embed a robust ‘Triple Zero’ performance management system in each site (team boards & routines from operator level to sr management)
  • Improve the competency levels of local CI Managers and Specialists on typical CI toolbox knowledge (eg. 5S, RCA, Kanban, VSM, Lean Cells, Kata, Team Boards ….) and soft skills (influencing, coaching, storytelling, presenting,..) across all sites in scope
  • Create and maintain a CI community across all sites which shares good practices and celebrates ‘Triple Zero’ successes
  • 50-70% travel across Europe
  • Significant on-site presence in the 10 manufacturing sites is key for success

 

About you

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial).
  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certified
  • An additional degree in Business Administration is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience of which 7 years with implementing Lean principles on a manufacturing shop floor
  • Has lead several plant-wide initiatives all the way from creating the high-level business strategy down to the actual execution on the shop floor, with proven tangible business impact on safety/quality/service/cost and people development.
  • Hands-on experience with coaching operators and shop floor team leaders/supervisors on Lean tools & techniques
  • Experience in driving multi-site initiatives in a matrix organization is a clear advantage.
  • English: native or advanced speaker
  • Minimum 1 other language which  is spoken in the sites (Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish/Catalan, Swedish)
  • Vast knowledge of Lean tools & principles: eg. 5S, Short Interval Control, Team Boards, Root Cause Problem Solving methods, Kata, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Cells, Kanban systems, Line balancing, Hoshin Kanri, World Class Manufacturing, TPM,… )
  • Financial acumen (understanding P&L, Balance Sheet)
  • User experience with ERP systems (eg SAP)
  • Advanced user experience on MS Excel and Powerpoint
