The Quality Coordinator is responsible for leading and driving the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of activities related to product complaints and internal deviations. The role ensures that Barry Callebaut Sweden AB’s products and services comply with technical specifications, meet internal and external requirements, and adhere to relevant standards and certifications. This position plays a key role in fostering a strong quality culture across the organization.

 

Responsibilities

Quality Control & Deviation Management

  • Investigate and manage product complaints and internal deviations using the CAPA tool.
  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA), prepare documentation, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed.
  • Communicate findings to production and train operators when needed.
  • Send samples for external analysis when required.
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs related to complaints and deviations, including trends and statistics.
  • Lead monthly complaint review meetings and ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Approve and verify new items in the business system from a quality perspective.
  • Support production in resolving quality-related issues and escalate concerns to QA Manager when necessary.

Audits, Inspections & Compliance

  • Participate in HACCP team meetings and close assigned actions.
  • Conduct internal audits according to the established schedule.
  • Perform hygiene inspections and ad-hoc Gemba walks.
  • Ensure hygiene rules are updated and maintained according to corporate standards.
  • Lead traceability exercises (planned and unplanned) and act as traceability coordinator.
  • Conduct food safety risk analyses using current methodologies.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and quality regulations.

Documentation & Systems

  • Maintain and update quality documentation in QDS and shared drives.
  • Validate cleaning procedures and support development of cleaning routines.
  • Maintain inventory lists for glass and brittle materials in production, including risk analysis.
  • Ensure blocked products are followed up within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Perform trend analysis on results from the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP).
  • Define, maintain, and update the EMP plan and analyze results as needed.
  • Support regional QA in subcontractor management and audit preparation.

Training & Culture

  • Conduct annual and onboarding quality training for staff across departments (R&D, team leaders, operators, maintenance).
  • Ensure training materials are up-to-date and aligned with company standards.
  • Promote and embody Barry Callebaut’s core values: Passion, Integrity, Team Spirit, Entrepreneurship, Customer Focus.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and act as a role model for quality culture.
  • Develop competencies in SAP, QDS, Salesforce, and other internal systems.
  • Lead morning meetings and ensure relevant information is communicated to factory meetings.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in quality assurance or food safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of deviation handling, RCA methodology, and CAPA tools.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles and internal audit processes.
  • Experience with hygiene standards and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT systems (e.g., SAP, QDS, Salesforce).
  • Ability to lead meetings and training sessions effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Experience in working with subcontractors and preparing for audits.
  • Knowledge of Swedish and English (spoken and written).
  • Familiarity with Barry Callebaut standards and certifications

Note: It's a temporary role for 1 year (maternity cover).
