With over 190 years of chocolate drink experience and 3 factories in Europe, Barry Callebaut Beverages is the world’s leading manufacturer of specialty cocoa and high-quality milk-based solutions. Uncover the unique machine functionality of all our products. The beverage development center of Barry Callebaut is located outside Helsingborg, Sweden. There, powder drinks are developed and manufactured for a global market. The focus is on chocolate and coffee, but also tea and milk products are in the assortment. The products are marketed under brands such as Ögonblink, Van Houten, Caprimo, Bensdorp and Le Royal.

 

As a member in our R&D team in Beverages you provide key contributions and expert guidance. We are now planning to strengthen our department with three new positions working as Customer R&D Manager, R&D Product Expert Manager and R&D Product Expert Technologist.

In our R&D department we strive for product excellence and drive continuous improvement of our products and services. We add value to the product portfolio of our customers and develop new solutions in our laboratory environments. We create new market opportunities by leveraging the customer network and product innovations. As a part of the R&D team you will support us in one of the following functions:

 

Customer R&D Manager:

The Customer R&D Manager acts as the face to the customer for new product developments and enriching the product portfolio. Making the customer enthusiastic about new innovations and tailoring them to their specific needs is a key aspect of this role. It also involves advising customers in application and choice of the right product suitable for their setup. The Customer R&D Manager has a strong understanding of the marketplace. You organize and run training courses about the full product range. This role ensures the proper implementation of new developments in our systems. To succeed you have strong people skills, bring passion and inspiration together with a strong drive to “make it happen”.

 

 

R&D Product Expert Manager:

The R&D Product Expert Manager liaises internally and externally to understand current and future product development needs. This role requires a strong technical background and entails an understanding of the individual advantages of our production sites. As a point of contact for new opportunities this position naturally comes with a strong bond to our sales team coordinating cross functional activities to deliver important product related initiatives. Furthermore the R&D Product Expert Manager develops new and adapts existing recipes, makes them reality in the laboratory and initiates cost simulations. To succeed in this role you are capable of handling multiple and complex development projects at a time, you have good communications skills and a drive to deliver.

 

R&D Product Expert Technologist:

This role is involved in a wide range of customer specific and proactive innovation projects. You are hands-on in your approach with an understanding of the commercial, nutritional, regulatory and quality aspect of ingredients with established codes, standards and procedures. The R&D Product Expert Technologist coordinates the product testing (physical, chemical, sensory) and development activities. To succeed in this role you are efficient in a laboratory environment. You understand the theoretical and practical aspects of our ingredients. You are quick in understanding the needs of a project and how to add value to each of our developments.

Customer R&D Manager and R&D Product Expert Manager:

  • Master Degree in Science/Engineering or similar, preferably in a food science discipline
  • At least 2-3 years of experience from R&D processes
  • Project Management and Communication Skills
  • Proven track record product development, preferably in the food industry
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge in Axapta and SAP is preferred
  • Fluent English (speaking, writing and reading). Swedish is preferred
  • Ability to travel

 

R&D Product Expert Technologist:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Science/Engineering or similar, preferably in a food science discipline
  • Technician with a proven track record of contributions in product development , preferably in a food science industry
  • Hands-on mindset, strong understanding of ingredients and their physical, chemical, sensory and regulatory impact on our products
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge in Axapta and SAP is preferred
  • Fluent English (speaking, writing and reading). Swedish is preferred
