Our position of Chocolate Academy Assistant Chef based in Johannesburg, South Africa:

Chocolate Academy Assistant Chef is responsible for supporting the Head of Chocolate Academy in the preparation of specific presentation and contribute actively product development in response to commercial requests; participating in agreed training Programs at the Academy and acting as a support to prepare the Chocolate Academy activities; delivering courses and demonstration or customer presentation of basic/ intermediate level by supervising the Quality of the courses / training linked to their brand.


Description of Tasks:

  • Conducting demonstrations and workshops in academy or in external premises
  • Assisting Head of Chocolate Academy in weighing of ingredients, recipe preparations, sourcing of ingredients, housekeeping of academy, liaising with external parties for maintenance of academy
  • Receiving guests, leading and ensuring that their classes are well conducted from start to finish.
  • Supporting marketing department for making the academy, attracting people to our classes via social media, networking, customer visits etc. and monitoring the success rate with an academy calendar
  • Working out on new concepts for classes and customers together with Head of Chocolate Academy


Your profile:

  • Culinary Diploma with 2-3 years of chocolate experience and on the job training,
  • Fluent in English – both written and oral
  • MS Office skills (Excel,Powerpoint)
  • Strong presentation and hands on demonstration skills,
  • Experience in conducting pastry/ chocolate classes will be an added advantage,
  • On the job training and experience in the five star hotels, retail bakery, pastry shops, fine dine restaurants or culinary industry,
  • Relevant hands on experience on various facets of bakery and pastry kitchen,
  • Chocolate and compound knowledge and skills and application would be an advantage
  • Hands on knowledge of Pastry, Laminated Dough, Yeast Good, Plated Desserts, Chocolate work.
