About the role:

 

The Energy Manager, works at the site level and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support the company’s energy management strategy.
The main goal is to enhance energy efficiency, reduce consumption, and support sustainabilitytargets by leading energy-saving initiatives and ensuring regulatory compliance. The rolecontributes to cost reduction and CO₂ footprint reduction through best practices and innovativesolutions.
This position plays a key role in advancing the company’s sustainability efforts and offersengagement with a global network of energy experts.


Key responsibilities include:

 

Develop and execute a multi-year energy and GHG reduction roadmap

  • Define actionable milestones aligned with corporate and SBTi targets
  • Evaluate renewable energy integration and implement low-carbon technologies
  • Monitor progress using key performance indicators (KPIs)

Monitor and analyze site energy consumption

  • Use Energy Management Systems (EMS) to track usage
  • Identify inefficiencies, trends, and anomalies
  • Provide actionable insights to improve performance

Identify energy-saving opportunities and lead improvement projects

  • Assess systems, assets, and processes for energy optimization potential
  • Manage and implement energy efficiency projects
  • Apply global energy standards locally

Ensure compliance with energy regulations and support ISO 50001 implementation

  • Maintain documentation and lead audit preparations
  • Drive certification processes and regulatory compliance

Train and engage internal teams on energy efficiency practices

  • Develop and deliver training programs and awareness campaigns
  • Lead energy-focused initiatives and promote a culture of energy efficiency
  • Implement recognition programs to encourage participation

Report on energy performance and KPIs

  • Track energy intensity, project results, and cost savings
  • Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making

 

About you:


Technical Energy Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of industrial energy systems (HVAC, motors, metering)
  • Understanding of energy flows, utilities, and production interdependencies
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient and renewable technologies
  • Working knowledge of chocolate and cocoa production processes

Project Management

  • Proven ability to lead and execute energy-saving projects end-to-end
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, resources, and risks

Analytical Thinking

  • Skilled in analyzing energy data and identifying inefficiencies
  • Experience with Energy Monitoring Systems (EMS)
  • Ability to turn data into actionable strategies

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge

  • Understanding of local energy regulations
  • Experience with audits and compliance documentation
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 is a plus

Industry and Technical Experience

  • 3–5 years in engineering, maintenance, process, or energy management
  • Experience in manufacturing or energy-intensive industries (food sector preferred)
  • Background in energy reduction projects and standard development

CO₂ and Energy Strategy Development

  • Hands-on experience creating and executing multi-year CO₂ and energy reduction plans
  • Understanding of Science-Based Targets (SBTi)
  • Knowledge of renewable and low-carbon technologies

Communication and Collaboration

  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional work, reporting, and training
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders

Leadership and Influence

  • Ability to lead energy initiatives and engage core teams
  • Capable of influencing and gaining buy-in from senior management

Education and Language

  • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of Portuguese and English is mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s or Master Degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent
