JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Barry Callebaut Digital (BC Digital) is on a mission to lead the digital revolution in the chocolate industry, and we're looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to support this transformative journey. You will be responsible for shaping the digital architecture to solve business needs focusing on network services. In addition, you will ensure that our network architecture is aligned with our business objectives, while developing and communicating strategic architecture target pictures and technology roadmaps. You will additionally provide oversight and guidance on the technical aspects of development and integration, ensuring that pertinent technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security measures) are appropriately implemented. 

 

This global role will lead the development of network architectures for complex solutions, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external, and internal teams. Take full responsibility for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within enterprise network systems across the group. Establish policy and strategy for the selection of solution architecture components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency. Ensure that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to. Within a business change programme, manage the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across projects. Plans and leads the identification and assessment of new and emerging network technologies and the evaluation of the potential impacts, threats and opportunities. Create network technology roadmaps which align organisational plans with emerging network technology solutions. Engages with, and influences, relevant stakeholders to obtain organisational commitment to network technology roadmaps. Develops organisational guidelines for monitoring emerging network technologies. Collaborates with internal and external parties to facilitate intelligence gathering.

                                      

         MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Develop the enterprise architecture strategy and target picture for our network services incl. including local (LAN, WLAN) and global (WAN) network designs, architecture and roadmap structure
  • Create and communicate architecture plans and blueprints, that align with the organizations business goals
  • Manage and optimize Azure Cloud networking solutions, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises systems
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions
  • Design and implement comprehensive network and security architectures, including LAN/WAN and Azure Cloud environments
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network and security architectures, configurations, and processes
  • Documentation of principles, standards, patterns that are clearly aligned with Enterprise Architecture pillars within the e2e networking space
  • Bring experience to develop Network as a Service methodology focussing on improved proactive monitoring tools, observability, end user experience 
  • Provide support on the technical aspects of solution development and integration, while considering policies, standards, and practices including security measures
  • Establish and enforce architectural governance and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • Support the solution design team evaluating the business mission and ensuring that IT assets are leveraged effectively
  • Facilitate architecture-related discussions and decision-making processes fostering effective communication and collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Evaluate and select technology services providers and third-party solutions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and management
  • Develop visual representations of the system architecture models
  • Evaluate existing IT systems for business fit for purpose and identify improvements and mitigations
  • Support the implementation of the strategic roadmap of BC Digital and target operating model execution
  • Oversee network maintenance and installation activities from an architectural viewpoint
  • Review architectural designs and proposal, help prepare business case and support budget forecasting with help from network leadership team
  • Carry out risk and problem analysis, create technical specifications and support the implementation of security measures and standards
  • Collaborate with the broader Enterprise Architecture community and lead the development cohesive architecture principles and guidelines across the organization, sharing insights, best practices, and ensuring alignment with overall enterprise architecture standards and frameworks
  • Analyze industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure state-of-the art architecture standards

 

               EDUCATION, LANGUAGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep knowledge with network management, fields incl. including local (LAN, WLAN) and global (WAN) network structure
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching
  • Expertise in security frameworks and best practices (Zero Trust Architectures, network segmentation, designing well-architected frameworks in Azure and local site implementations across IT & OT landscapes)
  • Knowledge of building, configuring, managing and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions incl. Network best practices
  • Deep knowledge of SD-WAN and SASE solutions
  • Knowledge of Cisco products, e.g. Meraki Cloud Managed Solutions (MS, MX, MR, etc.) and other switch brands (HPE Aruba, Mellanox) are a plus
  • Proficiency in Azure Cloud services and networking
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking services, including Virtual Networks, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, and Firewalls
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments, integrating on-premises networks with Azure
  • Experience in optimizing network performance through traffic analysis and capacity planning
  • Ability to use network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG) to track performance and identify issues
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols. Expertise in routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control, knowledge of HPE Aruba Clearpass is a plus
  • Understanding of roles, processes and technologies around solution management incl. related trends
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, e.g. TOGAF, Zachman
  • Advanced knowledge of solution architecture methodologies and best-practices
  • Ability to optimize network performance and reliability through effective design and configuration
  • 10+ years of relevant experience as a Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect or similar
  • Relevant certification, e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert highly desired
  • Understanding of architecture-related IT security principles and practices
  • Demonstrated working history as a team player in diverse teams and driving change in a collaborative way on a global scale
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skills to create internal and external partnerships/networks across the organization with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Independent and self-driven personality with strong analytical skills and techniques
