About the role
Under the direction of the Facility Manager and the Department Manager, you will be a part of a team responsible for supporting and safely maintaining Barry Callebaut equipment to produce the highest quality product. In performing the above function, GMP practices and HACCP requirements are to be satisfied.  

Key responsibilities include

  • Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance for Barry Callebaut USA operations;
  • Support production by ensuring the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment;
  • Mechanical troubleshooting, i.e. PLC’s, electronics and pneumatics, pumps, gear reducers, etc.;
  • Perform duties limited supervision;
  • Coordinate and complete projects, on occasion with outside vendors;
  • Generate, complete and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system;
  • Communicate with manager for direction and keep manager informed of problems and equipment that is not operating properly;
  • Perform established PM’s and identify new opportunities for improvement;
  • Follow all GMP, HACCP and Safety regulations/guidelines;
  • Be committed to providing a safe food product;
  • Works within all regulatory requirements;
  • Be committed to employee and facility safety;
  • Help in the training of new employees, both production and maintenance when required;
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment;
  • Participate in the safety related training programs;
  • Ensure the proper documentation of repairs, including listing parts used, record keeping and following the work flow process;
  • Performs all other related duties as requested

About You:

  • High school diploma, Technical school preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food processing;
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment, i.e. pumps, seals, bearings, blowers, etc.;
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting automated processes, installing and repairing new and existing equipment, and responding to machine and equipment issues in all areas of the facility;
  • Proficiency in pneumatic and electrical troubleshooting and PLCs
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical power transmission systems, i.e. chain drives, gearboxes;
  • Ability to read and follow blue prints, drawings and schematics;
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office, Google Office, etc.;
  • Lifting up to 60 lbs. and standing and walking for long periods of time;
  • Must be able to work from an elevated platform;
  • Must be able to work independently, follow through and complete tasks, and handle a multi-task workload;
  • Must be able to work as part of a team with little to no supervision;
