The Site Manager will manage and direct the production, maintenance, safety, quality assurance functions of our Hendersonville, NC facility.  This location specializes in decorative, chocolate products.  The Site Manager will comply with customer requirements, rules, laws and regulations, while leading by example and living the Barry Callebaut Values of; Customer Focus, Passion, Entrepreneurship, Team Spirit and Integrity.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct and efficiently manage key divisions of operations: 1) Manufacturing 2) Food Safety 3) Maintenance 4) Warehouse and 5) Sanitation.
  • Understand the financial impacts of various sourcing, labor, materials and overhead strategies on the business and act accordingly to maximize returns.
  • Create a high-performance operations team by recruiting and developing teams with an appropriate mix of experience, capabilities, and skills to consistently meet company goals and departmental initiatives in the most cost-effective manner. Ensure effective succession planning for all pivotal positions.
  • Develop a strong discipline of role clarity and hold self and team members accountable for performance and collaboration with the whole company establishing and maintaining an inclusive and diverse culture that provides a positive employee experience and ensuring proactive performance management based on feedback, coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure plant meets OSHA requirements and continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues as well as employee safety attitudes.
  • Cultivate a safety culture. Ensure compliance with all food regulatory requirements and adherence to food safety and GMP's.
  • Represent the organization to the relevant institutions, authorities, and to the local community and occasionally the customer
  • Develop and execute job training programs that build the capability of the factory and leadership team members, including skill-based pay for the factory team and succession planning for the leadership team.
  • Leads the re-engineering process to improve plant safety, quality and costs related to operations
  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations ensuring the plant meets the daily production schedule, producing products that meet or exceed established standards.

 

 

 

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science with an emphasis in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering and/or experience in related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Food manufacturing management, preferably in process-orientated operations and/or related industry.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office and Google Workplace
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
  • Working knowledge of recipe formulation, manufacturing process, product physical properties, statistical process control, sanitation and good manufacturing practices
  • Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with highly effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to changing situations despite deadlines and pressure.
  • Excellent Team-building skills and possess the ability to gain consensus and deliver results with and through people.
  • Ability to provide clear direction.
