About the role

 

The mission of the Plant Manager is to create a true performance culture at every layer of the organization and to develop a lean efficient organization with strong leadership competencies at managerial and at front line level (approx. 400 people in total). 
One of the key goals to achieve is to build a strong partnership with social partners on Safety, Performance, Productivity and Labor flexibility.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director Belgium you will be responsible for organizing and coordinating all operations activities within the site, in order to meet short- and medium-term operational goals and budget targets. And also, together with the Business Development Manager, you will work on our Growth Plan for Halle.
  
Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading, directing, controlling coordinating and managing the day-to-day activities of the plant
  • Contribute to the supply chain strategy & setting the local business strategy
  • Translate the Operations strategy into local strategy and plans, and drive implementation in the area of responsibility 
  • Building positive relationships with Unions
  • Optimize the performance (capacity, ability, cost-effectiveness, processes, cross factory perspectives) of the operations environment
  • Ensure delivery of production output according to cost, schedule, quality standards, customer specifications and time
  • Ensure that equipment and technology used throughout the site can handle short, medium and long-term requirements.
  • Work out & propose short- or medium-term investments 
  • Manage the team ensuring staff are motivated, trained and ready to achieve objectives, in a positive social climate 
  • Manage people planning to achieve short and medium-term business results


About You

 

Essential experience & knowledge:

  • You have at least 15 years of relevant experience within an industrial environment in leadership roles
  • You have proven leadership achievements in a matrix organization, ideally within a demanding high volume Manufacturing or B2B organization
  • You are experienced in building satisfactory relationships with the Unions
  • You can manage upwards as well as downwards, you continuously strive for improvements in ways of working, processes and approaches, best practice delivering a more effective management
  • You are a decision-maker with an analytical, strategic, project management mindset and have a positive, engaging and charismatic, driven personality and robust character
  • You have excellent learning agility; have the ability to accept responsibility, ensure quality, and truly understand the importance of being a leader
  • You are ideally French-speaker, with good knowledge of English. Dutch is a plus.
