About the role

  • We are looking for a Purchaser for our chocolate factory located in Indonesia, to join the plant’s management team. This position has responsibility for the indirect spend portfolio of the chocolate production site in Gresik and Rancaekek. This role covers all technical, non-technical and service spend (besides categories managed at Regional or Group level) such as Capex and MRO, Packaging, Energy, Facility Management, lab consumables/services/equipment, G&A related spend, and in general any spend besides the direct spend.
  • This role will report with a solid line to the Site Manager of the chocolate operations located in Gresik and Rancaekek with a dotted line to the Finance Manager, Indonesia Chocolate.


Key responsibilities include

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the most efficient procurement of all spend categories in scope at the best TCO.
  • Create and manage ongoing action plans to continuously reduce factories’ purchasing costs according to the targets assigned.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and work closely with them to ensure good collaboration with Purchasing.
  • Ensure the relevant purchasing practices are applied for the categories in scope (strategic, tactical, spot buy) and manage “hands-on” the categories assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group purchasing processes.
  • Act as a link between the Local, Regional, and Global Purchasing Organization, understand global agreements and procedures, and ensure their implementation.
  • Generate reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all purchases and perform supplier performance reviews.
  • Manage performance and relationships with the suppliers, to ensure that the facilities have the right supplier base, delivering the right performance (service, quality, TCO).
  • Ensure a strict “house-keeping” for the whole Purchasing departments tasks (compliance on controls, open POs, etc.)
  • Support and/or lead issues resolution between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support on ad-hoc basis other projects for the country/region
  • Analyze historical spend data and budget, and define categories strategies
  • Manage all contracts related to Indirect Spend
  • Understand market forces, research and evaluate vendors (Suppliers and contractors)
  • Apply the purchasing process flows in line with the category strategy
  • Define particular terms and conditions
  • Negotiate proposals and finalize terms, conditions, and purchasing agreements
  • Support supplier relationship management and drive value creation through supplier innovation
  • Drive continuous improvements (cost and service) of assigned sourcing categories
  • Monitor and report savings results


About you

  • Solid experience of a minimum of 5 years in indirect spend purchasing in an international company (preferably in food/pharmaceutical/chemical industries). Experience in MRO purchasing and packaging materials is a plus.
  • Resourceful, high initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Language: English is written and spoken fluently next to the local language (Bahasa Indonesia)
  • Knowledge in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is a must.
