Engineering Manager, Project Execution

About the role
The position is responsible lead and execute multiple medium- to large-scale projects simultaneously, working closely with engineering teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external partners to ensure successful delivery. You will manage the full project lifecycle—from design study and kick-off to go-live—following Barry Callebaut’s governance and stage-gate processes.
Key responsibilities include
- Manages and implements multiple projects (Medium to large projects) simultaneously.
- Manages resources of Engineering and cross-functions as well as external services (vendor, contractors and consultant) to collaborate aiming successful project execution.
- Manage the Stage gate Project (Design study, Kick-off until Go Live) accordingly to Barry Callebaut governance and platform systems
- Working closely with respective Site Plant Manager to manage client needs and expectation and ensure project team members’ expectations of the project are in alignment.
- Effectively Communicates continuously with all stakeholders (clients, team members as well as superior).
- Able to cope and manage team members, project deliverables and team reviews.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier reputable university in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or Process Engineering; a Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
- Strong English proficiency in both written and verbal communication (minimum TOEFL 500).
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) managing medium– to large-scale projects (>500K CHF) or working as an Engineering Manager in a multinational company.
- Background in the Food & Beverage industry is highly preferred, with solid HSE mindset and HACCP understanding.
- Technical, hands-on experience in manufacturing or process industries, such as construction, mechanical, electrical, piping, structure, or architecture.
- Strong knowledge of process equipment, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Experience in TPM Early Management and Kaizen initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong project management capabilities, including managing resources in a matrix structure.
- Excellent technical presentation and communication skills, including communication with senior leadership.
- Leadership experience in managing diverse engineering teams and external contractors or installation crews.
- Solid skills in accounting, budgeting, and project cost estimation.
- High proficiency in software tools, including Microsoft Office, MS Project, and statistical software (e.g., Minitab); SAP experience is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively depending on project needs.
- No mobility restrictions across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Australia.
- Strong commitment to safety for personnel, processes, and products.
