The Process Controller, under the direction of the Site Leader, provides process engineering support, implementation/commissioning services and maintenance support of manufacturing processes and equipment. The Process Controller also supports all aspects related to the full deployment of the CI implementation at the home site. The engineering services may include equipment specification, process design, charts and graphs, and process development/improvement. The Process Controller evaluates and recommends new process procedures, organization or technologies that will optimize performance, are cost effective, and will improve product quality and manufacturing techniques. Successfully executes projects or areas of large projects. Provides significant contributions on project teams. Monitor work for compliances to applicable codes and BC standards.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Assessing processes for their relevance, and assessing the adequacy of engineering equipment

  • Propose, lead CI actions in regards to performance 

  • Use continuous improvements tools together with local CI leader

  • Reviewing existing data to see if more research and information need to be collated

  • Starting new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes

  • Aligns process with quality expectations

  • Conducting process development experiments to scale from the lab into the processing plant.

  • Preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts

  • Assessing the availability of raw materials and the safety and environmental impact of the plant

  • Selecting, managing and working with sub-contractors

  • Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs; 

  • Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved –potentially coordination with other facilities in the group

  • Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations

  • Working closely with other specialists internally or externally including: scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew

  • Must promote a safe working environment and good GMP’s

  • Committed to providing a safe food product

  • Works within all regulatory requirements

  • Perform all other related duties as requested

 

About you:

 

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in food process, mechanical or electrical engineering

  • 5+ years experience in a highly process oriented manufacturing environment 

  • Experience in designing and improving process flows

  • Experience in process thinking/design, quality improvement driven work, project management   

  • Lean manufacturing/ Kaisen knowledge is a plus

  • Experience with computer simulations and modeling

  • Knowledge of instrument installation

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Team player with good communication skills
