About the role: 

The Quality in Design and Customer Value lead is responsible for ensuring that products are designed with quality and continuous improvement at the forefront. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate quality principles into the design process and continuous improvement to ensure that customer needs and expectations are met or exceeded at the factory level. This person will lead initiatives to enhance product quality, improve customer satisfaction, and drive continuous improvement within the factory.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop quality standards: Establish and implement metrics for product design and development processes.
  • Conduct design reviews: Assess factory and process risks during the design phase, recommending improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis: Drive corrective action initiatives for design-related and food safety incidents.
  • Manage change control: Oversee product and process modifications to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with production, engineering, and customer service to resolve quality concerns.
  • Implement continuous improvement: Develop strategies to enhance quality and food safety processes.
  • Conduct assessments: Regularly identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate training: Deliver workshops on CI methodologies such as BCOS, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Prepare CI reports: Document and present the impact of improvement projects on quality and food safety.
  • Customer complaint management: Translate customer feedback into actionable changes within production.
  • Support audits: Assist in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Connect processes: Understand and link processes, tools, and techniques to strengthen CI initiatives.

About you: 

  • Educational background: Graduate degree in Food Science, Industrial Science, or a related discipline.
  • Food safety certification: HACCP or Food Safety Management System certification preferred.
  • Industry and CI expertise: Strong knowledge of food industry processes and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Root cause analysis: Proven ability to conduct RCA and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Data and quality tools: Proficiency in data analysis, quality control tools, and documentation systems.
  • Technical systems: Skilled in SAP or other quality management software.
  • Cocoa and process design: Experience in cocoa processing, product design, and process design.
  • Regulatory compliance: Familiarity with GMP, food safety standards, and regulatory audits.
  • Professional experience: 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Training and coaching: Ability to train teams on hygiene, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Problem-solving and communication: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; effective in cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on flexibility: Proactive, hands-on approach with flexibility to work across departments and shifts when required.
