SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Summary:
This is a position that will be working directly with the Commercial Team at Barry Callebaut Ecuador. This position will introduce the candidate to the sourcing and trading sector of the cocoa beans industry. Responsible for working under the direction of the Commercial Manager.
As a Commercial Support, you are responsible for supporting the Commercial Team with the cocoa purchasing and sourcing strategy for Barry Callebaut Ecuador.
This includes supporting the Commercial Team in the daily activities by verification of the trades/contracts and processing the invoices.
Be able to develop strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The range of stakeholders is broad as this role will maintain strong links with commercial, logistics and sustainability colleagues within our business. External stakeholders are also key to this with Supplier Management being crucial to this position
Essential Functions:
- Verification of the trades and contracts of the day and help the commercial team processing invoices
- Ensure that our contracts are in place (in our software and system).
- Generate and report daily physical and futures position
- Following up on contract allocation, inventories and quality
- Following up on outstanding payments
- Prepare documents and materials (for example, reports, presentations, information packages) for meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners so that the information provided is accurate.
- In collaboration with our commercial team, ensure that our Taycan and EXW´s contracts, purchases and sales, are in place (in our software and system).
- Commercial risk management Control
- P&L and Futures Position reports
- Daily hedging cocoa futures
- Identify risk involved in cocoa supply chain
- Verification of contracts with our traders in Switzerland
- Generate reports with business intelligence and data visualization
- Support the commercial manager to implement controls, procedures, collect and analyze data for Barry Callebaut Ecuador.
- Support the commercial team on daily tasks (purchases contracts creation, prices negotiation) when/while buyers are on the bush visiting suppliers.
- Ensure standardization, quality, and auditability
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Work Experience:
- A completed Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline to the role (eg Economics, Administration, Trade & Finance);
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative position, preferably in soft commodities;
- Fluent in Spanish and English intermediate level. Any other languages would be an advantage;
- Proficiency in MS Office application – Word, PowerPoint and Excel to an excellent standard.
- Knowledge of business intelligence tool, Power BI would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Futures & Commodities would be an advantage.
Additional Requirements:
- Exceptional attention to DETAIL;
- Strong analytical and critical skills to ensure excellence in data and consistency in KPI reporting
- Experience in Cocoa or Coffee sourcing a nice to have
- Ambitious personality with a high sense of ownership, hands-on mentality and strong analytical skills with the ability to work well under pressure;
- Excellent communicator across all levels of our organization, both verbal and written.
- The role is based in Samborondón-Durán, Ecuador
- Eventually travel in-country to areas in the main cocoa-growing regions.
