The Spare Parts Technician will be part of a team responsible for supporting and safely maintaining Barry Callebaut’s equipment at Barry Callebaut Dunmore by providing documentation and spare parts inventory support for the Maintenance Department. In performing the above function, GMP practices and HACCP requirements are to be satisfied.


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Organize, stock, and maintain general appearance of stockroom; and other parts locations at GHI.
  • Adhere to the 5S principles 
  • Make minor adjustments or repairs to supplies in the stockroom; 
  • Issue parts and kits to shop floor, assisting mechanics with parts requirements; 
  • Responsible for adjusting work orders in FT Maintenance for all parts used during downtime and for expediting (when necessary) and tracking all orders and prices;
  • Identify and label machine parts according to machine and department;
  • Maintain records of machine and equipment repair parts through FT Maintenance; 
  • Responsible for the maintenance of stockroom inventory system using FT Maintenance management software;
  • Process all necessary paperwork including obtaining quotes, preparing purchase requisitions, verifying incoming shipments against PO’s, verifying vendor invoices, updating file records, and preparing other reports as necessary;
  • Handle occasional pick-up or delivery of materials away from company facility;
  • Take periodic cycle counts of stockroom inventory, and maintain perpetual inventory;
  • Follow all GMP and HACCP guide lines; 
  • Review and assign service request from other departments to Mechanics and outside contractors for completion based on priority and work schedule;
  • Understand maintenance issues in order to create Purchase requisition and Purchase orders. Distribute orders to vendors for Maintenance material and services needed;
  • Willing to understand and implement continuous improvement initiatives and practices; 
  • Prepare and distribute parts necessary for all schedules;
  • Maintain logs of equipment expenditures, work orders, and preventative maintenance;
  • Perform other assignments as directed

 

About you:

  • High school degree, technical school preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehousing, parts distribution, or maintenance environment;
  • Ability to read and follow blue prints, drawings and schematics;
  • Experience in spare parts inventory procedures, shipping, receiving and order processing required;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required;
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office (Excel), etc.;
  • Lifting up to 60 lbs. and standing and walking for long periods of time;
  • Must be able to work independently, follow through and complete detailed tasks, and handle a multi-task workload;
  • Strong team-working skills and beliefs in the benefit of teamwork and work processes.
