About the role: 

The role of Senior Buyer, Indirect Spend for the Dunmore, PA site, will oversee the opex and capex purchasing for the facility, plus other Regional Indirect Spend strategic projects. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance and integrity in the purchasing process, while delivering value for the organization. The position will also be responsible for building a stakeholder and supplier network for the site, and will work on key strategic initiatives to drive long-term value for the organization, and will lead/reinforce the Barry Callebaut core values.

The Senior Buyer will work directly with the Facilities Management Team to ensure all sourcing needs are met. Position reports to the Director of Indirect Spend, Americas.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Seek out qualified suppliers/vendors in accordance with parameters set.
  • Cultivate and maintain supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Complete purchasing activities, including the negotiations with vendors to establish costs based on TCO concept, agree on terms & conditions, and supplier contracts and/or frame agreements.
  • Set and/or apply purchasing strategies.
  • Deliver against savings targets in both OPEX and CAPEX spend areas.
  • Understand, put in place, comply with global/regional agreements, and enforce processes/policies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of qualified secondary sources.
  • Committed to providing a safe food product.
  • Works within all regulatory requirements.
  • Perform all other related duties as requested.
  • Organize all the purchasing activities to align with facility goals and needs.
  • Coordination with other departments and stakeholder management.
  • Ensure proper purchasing application to internal customers and the financial department.
  • Work with department heads to identify budget reduction strategies through sourcing programs.
  • General reports on an ad-hoc and regular basis, including purchasing KPIs.
  • Corporate spend projects (QA, Marketing, HR, IT).
  • Corporate Capex activities.

About you: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field (like mechanical/technical) required.
  • 5 years of experience in Indirect Purchasing with category management experience in MRO or Capital spend.
  • Advanced negotiating and partnering skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Past solid work experience in the Purchasing function (desirable in food, pharma, or chemical industries).
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, SAP & Maximo.
