The SHE Coordinator will report to and assist the SHE Manager and will play a vital role in ensuring that practices, rules, policies, and regulations related to health and safety standards and specifications at Barry Callebaut are in place and being followed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Helps administer the Environmental, Health, and Safety systems for the facility and assists in ensuring adherence to EHS regulations.
- Conducts new employee safety orientation and follow-up.
- Participates in and leads safety committee meetings, develops meeting agendas, takes meeting minutes, organizes audits, and implements recommendations as applicable.
- Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and manage/track completion of action items.
- Participate in the continued development and implementation of Barry Callebaut safety programs, such as lockout/tagout, fire protection, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
- Assist in identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, and recommending corrective actions.
- Participate in monthly safety and environmental inspections, including stormwater, SPCC, and audits.
- Track and report on selected safety KPI’s to the SHE Manager.
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations, as well as safe machinery operation.
- Assist the SHE Manager with all safety-related meetings, projects, research, recordkeeping, training, and document management.
- Maintain fire extinguisher, AED, ladder, and eyewash monthly and annual inspection checks.
About you:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required. A bachelor's degree or associate’s degree in a discipline such as Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies is preferred.
- 1-3 years of safety-related work experience and OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and industry safety requirements, such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and applicable environmental regulations, is required.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, but sometimes you need to be available to work on the third shift.
- Working experience with Google, Microsoft office.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and responsive work, be dependable and organized with good record-keeping and retrieval skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal, public speaking, and conducting presentations.
