The Vice President, OSCO manages the overall strategic and operational plan for the Americas Region manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role is accountable for the development and achievement of short and long-term strategic plans, and operational improvement initiatives related to cost, efficiency, quality, and environmental management of operations.

The VP Operations and SC provide regional leadership and strategy across the Americas. The scope includes over 18 manufacturing plants and 1 distribution center.

 

In this role, you will provide input and insight to the President Americas and Global COO determining the overall operations strategy for the organization. You will also coordinate with key operations leaders across the region to implement and execute the key operational goals and deliverables.

 

This selected candidate will be the key Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence functional leader for the region. Bringing strategic and tactical expertise, implementing and increasing change responsiveness, participating in cross-functional business and cultural development. Success in this role requires leadership across a complex regional, business, and functional matrix.
 

Key responsibilities include: 
 

  • Develop and deploy manufacturing work models focusing on scalable lean initiatives and standardized process control that support the overall strategy for manufacturing excellence across the region.
  • Provide expert knowledge in lean concepts and quality systems to the operations.
  • Establish and implement a robust set of standard operating procedures and processes powered by lean principles emphasizing continuous improvement in all areas to promote efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and deploy improvement actions related to key business operations metrics and overall manufacturing effectiveness, being a sales partner.
  • Create strategic relationships with all internal leaders and associates to design and execute manufacturing strategies and process improvements focused on improving manufacturing processes and yields as well as reducing manufacturing costs through innovative methodologies and established manufacturing principles such as, 5S/6S, Lean, Teamboards, Visual Factory, and RCA.
  • Improve operating margins by establishing, measuring, and meeting goals related, but not limited to on time delivery, cycle time reduction, yield improvement, internal rework and improved throughput.
  • Champion data-driven, continuous improvement efforts, in a solutions-oriented environment. Propose, support, and implement new ideas that support this environment.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of the Group talent management process for the OSCO organization in the region to ensure people development and organizational effectiveness.
    • Assessments against agreed role profiles and development of talent pictures.
    • Hire, train, develop, coach, evaluate, and promote engagement of the OSCO team. 
    • Create a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through LEAN principles, implementation of work standards, and development of feedback mechanisms.
  • Manage implementation of performance measures and targets to drive performance in line with regional objectives, group guidelines, and standards.
    • Certify measures and targets for plants and supply chain are in line with group standards and regional priorities.
    • Challenge and adjust targets and performance of the plants and supply chain for the key processes.
  • Guarantee the latest group technology and design standards are implemented and used in an efficient way within the region and capable of handling the short, medium and long-term needs of the business.
    • Establish a regular evaluation of the technology and condition of the plants and equipment to assure capabilities are in line with group standards and market requirements.
    • Make proposals and align with the COO on the allocation of capital investments for the region.
  • Achieve regional goals and objectives related to operational efficiency, safety, food quality, compliance, cost-effectiveness, and management of the capital spend and growth plan.
    • Overview the capacity utilization and development of expansion plans to deliver the required service levels with optimal costs and capital requirements.
    • Lead compliance efforts with internal procedures, external and environmental regulations with a strong focus on employee safety and health.
    • Develop master plans based on a regular review of product flows and footprint
    • Oversee capacity utilization and development of expansion plans to deliver required service levels with optimal costs and capital requirements.
    • Monitor regional flows and footprints and develop master plans to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Guarantee continuous improvement on the key performance drivers.
    • Regular evaluation and further development of the maturity level of the continuous improvement process in different sites in close cooperation with the corporate continuous improvement team.
    • Ensure that group and regional best practices are shared and implemented efficiently.
  • Lead the development of supply chain strategies. Direct development and execution of transportation
    and supply planning. Support the sales team to deliver optimal solutions to customers
  • Oversee the OSCO budgets and optimize use of budgets and assets, including major equipment budgets and project plans (installation of new equipment, major repairs, and maintenance on existing hardware).
     

About you:
 

  • Master University degree in Engineering, Commercial Engineer or Applied Economics
  • At least 15 years of experience in an Operations Management position with in-depth knowledge of the food industry
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large-scale capital projects
  • Prior experience of working and successfully leading and engaging large and complex teams  in a multinational, matrixed environment
  • Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing systems processes, products, and customers
  • Strong background in goal deployment, strategic planning and building organizational capability
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic process creation and implementation
  • Management and development of Operational Excellence function throughout an operation and across an organization including functional groups
  • Technically proficient in all areas of manufacturing management, OpEx, supply chain management, and quality systems
