POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician


REPORTING TO: Maintenance Supervisor


LOCATION: Chicago, IL – Manufacturing Facility

The Barry Callebaut Group serves the entire food industry, from industrial food manufacturers to artisanal and professional users of chocolate, such as chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, hotels, restaurants, and caterers.





The maintenance technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining all the equipment in the factory. The technician will modify and install equipment as required. We are currently hiring for multiple shifts. 


Essential Functions:

  • Repair and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in a specified required timeframe
  • Responsible for safety compliance personally and with equipment.
  • Process all necessary ISO paperwork for repairs and history.
  • Enter parts using SAP system.
  • Train production employees as needed for set-ups, operation of all equipment, etc.
  • Participate in projects and/or rebuilds.




Education & Work Experience:


  • Special Knowledge Expertise – mastery of a body of job related technical knowledge
  • Customer Service Orientation – help others to meet their needs.
  • Teamwork and Cooperation – genuine intention to work cooperatively with others.
  • Flexibility – ability to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals and groups.
  • High School or vocational school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two to four years’ manufacturing experience. 
  • Past history of working in a food production environment.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record.


Work and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, bend and reach over and under all equipment on a concrete floor for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in high areas, freely move around the entire facility indoors and out as well as work in area of extreme heat.
  • Basic date entry and computer experience.
