POSITION TITLE: Supply Planner, Cocoa


REPORTING TO: Supply Planning Manager

The Barry Callebaut Group serves the entire food industry, from industrial food manufacturers to artisanal and professional users of chocolate, such as chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, hotels, restaurants, and caterers.




Job Summary:

The Sr. Supply planner manages the network capacity between Barry Callebaut North American production facilities. They are also responsible for short and medium-term supply issues.  The planner will work closely with sales, production plants, as well as key business stake holders using the overall network, to balance the demand and supply to best serve the customer. Additionally, the Sr. Supply Planner will participate in key initiatives and projects to support continuous improvement.


Essential Functions:

  • Main contact between Sales, Customer Service, and Local Planning for shortages
  • Keep current on detailed knowledge of network capacity and capability
  • Maintain target service level KPI – weekly, monthly, and year-to-date analysis and reporting for management
  • Primary central supply contact for specific product group to be assigned, attend weekly meetings, manage inventory, and monitor new products
  • Review new business quotes for short term availability and provide timing, working specifically with Pricing and Sales for evaluation
  • Work closely with Sales, R&D, and Operations on product launches, changes, and new developing projects
  • Support the annual budgeting activities specifically related production planning, shift regime recommendations, and production line utilization
  • Provide necessary reports and updates for the monthly Sales and Operations Planning meetings
  • Hold weekly review with assigned production sites to discuss production schedules and raw material concerns
  • Manage the product transfer database, tracking and proposing production location changes to help with overall network capacity optimization and contingency planning
  • Work with Long Term Capacity and the Demand Planning team on demand changes, supply issues, and open capacity available for sale
  • Participate in monthly capacity calls with production plants, responsible for reviewing attainment to plan KPI for molding lines
  • Key project resource in supply chain, to support continuous improvement initiatives and overall company goals
  • Responsible for leading minor short- term ad hoc projects within the supply planning team





  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Engineering


Work Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a Supply Chain and/or Operations function in a manufacturing environment


Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience with SAP, OMP, and Business Objects preferred
