POSITION TITLE: Sourcing Manager - Ingredients Americas Region


REPORTING TO: Vice President Sourcing - Americas

The Barry Callebaut Group serves the entire food industry, from industrial food manufacturers to artisanal and professional users of chocolate, such as chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, hotels, restaurants, and caterers.



This role manages and leads the strategic sourcing of specialty ingredients, market risk position, and physical commodities in the Americas. You will have full EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) responsibility for the assigned categories in all plants for the Americas region. This position participates, contributes, and performs sourcing activities to meet functional and organizational objectives, along with executing the leadership of the specialty ingredient categories to ensure smooth coordination and internal communication with other Barry Callebaut departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the supply of specialty ingredients for all Barry Callebaut factories in the Americas
  • Identify, develop and nurture value add relationships with key vendors for all Specialty Ingredient  components
  • Negotiate and buy cost effective Specialty ingredients for the assigned product groups
  • Identify and capitalize on global procurement synergy with European and Asian  buying groups
  • Perform highly specialized functional analysis to support the business and provide interpretations of results back to management, customers or relevant stakeholders in the organization
  • Price specialty ingredients in chocolate in close collaboration with pricing team
  • Provide market intelligence to chocolate and cocoa customers
  • Support new supplier and material approvals/re-approvals, as well as maintain supplier documentation through SRM portal
  • Effectively manage working capital and inventory levels for the region within Group targets
  • Make recommendations to VP relating to creative value add sourcing strategies that  can impact price terms and conditions of agreements
  • Prepare weekly update reports for the VP as needed
  • Prepare as needed Excel reports, presentations and financial report formatting to support departmental reporting requirements or as may be required for analysis by management
  • Provide professional guidance and support to internal  and external customers, including active participation in relevant projects
  • Initiate, build and maintain relations with a variety of institutions in order to obtain the best and most up-to-date statistical information in the area of expertise
  • Represent BC in specialty ingredients external committees and actively network within the industry
  • Support BC’s Goal to be 100% sustainable with its raw materials
  • Lead a team of 2 - 4 ingredient buyers
  • Perform other duties as required



Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, procurement or food sciences
  • MBA preferred
  • CPSM or other procurement certification highly desirable
  • Professional with a minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience, preferably in Food Ingredients – specifically ingredients used in Chocolate
  • Knowledge of Nut Meat, Sweetener, and Flavor markets a plus
  • Seasoned negotiator with established network of contacts in the industry
  • Excellent strategic thinking and negotiating skills
  • Strong ability to interact with multidisciplinary team
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing business
  • Strong work ethic and integrity

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience with SAP enterprise Procurement and Inventory Management Systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and financial reporting format
  • Available for travel 25-30%
