Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Brand Specialist is an integral part of the sales organization. Their key function is to engage with local chefs, bakers, confectioners and other important players in the food industry to promote the range of products and services offered by Barry Callebaut in the greater Houston area. Qualified candidates will be a self-starter with a “go get em” mindset. They won’t get discouraged if the front door isn’t open, they will find a way inside. Please note: this is a part-time position, 28 hours per week, supporting the greater Houston, TX area

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Promote products and services by calling on chefs, bakers and confectioners in person--both current customers and prospects – must be comfortable cold calling.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and prospects when needed, while continuing to strengthen the relationship with the customer and provide a value added service. Relationship building with chefs, bakers, confectioners and others in the culinary community is an essential part of this job.
  • Plan and attend customer food shows, sales meetings, etc. – must be comfortable presenting in front of groups of people.
  • Work with the Sales Manager and marketing team to plan events (dinners, demos, shows, etc.)
  • Look for organizations/companies to be involved with to increase brand awareness.  
  • Leverage social media platforms to engage with customers and prospects and actively promote products and activities.  
  • Work with local culinary schools to promote Barry Callebaut and our brands in order to build awareness about our products.

About you:

  • Must be proactive, highly-motivated, entrepreneurial and a proven hunter
  • Minimum of two years sales experience; marketing experience is a plus
  • Culinary background strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of local food scene and self-starter desired
  • Strong oral, written and presentations skills required
  • Salesforce experience is helpful
  • Comfortable using various social media platforms
  • This position requires a car (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
  • Open to traveling outside of Houston 3-4 times per year
